It has been a few years since the lawsuit, I can't remember if his first name was George or not but his last name was Taulman from USO out of Taos, NM. He sued the AZGFD over the 10% cap and it was during the fall draw when it was still for all species. The draw had already occurred and a judge overturned the 10% cap. AZGFD rather than redo the whole draw went ahead and gave tags to the NR who would have drawn. There were some big names that were awarded tags, I believe Jim Zumbo and Jeff Foxworthy were a few who got tags but if I remember right they didn't accept them, anyways it caused a huge stink in the west and I believe a senator out of Nevada spearheaded a legislation change at the federal level that basically gave the states the right to manage their wildlife how they see fit. The up to but no more than 10% cap was reinstated. It was soon after the AZGFD started the public input process on some changes the biggest at the time was the change that you had to purchase a license in order to apply for big game tags.

Sound like too hot of a load if you are getting sticky bolt lift. Be very careful.Any other signs of overpressure, like flattened or catered primers, case head swipes, ejector marks, brass flow, etc.?The reloads are the minimum powder load, not sure on factory but buddies gun doesn't have issues with the factory loads.Books give you a reference. Only your gun can tell you what it likes. Depending on brass make and content, I have had way over pressure from the same loads I always run when it is hot outside, and when using Federal brass or military surplus brass for various chamberings. The more brass content, the less case capacity. Meaning less room in the case=more pressure when fired. There are other possible issues that can lead to over pressure. Bullets jammed or touching the lands of the bore, high ambient temps, different powder charge or different brand or lots of powder themselves. Tighter chamber cut, not all "SAAMI" chambers are cut exactly alike, either from a factory or a good gunsmith.I weigh each case and discard any that are out of spec. I like a 2 grain max difference in brass content for my rifles myself. Something like 124 to 126 grains for each case, or 171 to 173 grains, etc. Mixing different brands is bad. So if you load some Winchester at 160 grains of brass content, Remington at 170 grains of brass content, and Federal at 185 grains of brass content, and size them all with an FL die, they all have the same outside case diameter, but thicker walls equals less case space inside the brass. Bad for velocity, accuracy, and pressure. I have found up to 55 grains of brass content difference in .25-06 cases between 7 brands/head stamps. Winchester, WW Super, Remington, Federal, Frontier, Hornady, Nosler. Nickel plated cases make a difference too.Depending on how you weigh each charge, you can easily get discrepancies in charge weight. A powder throw can miss a charge weight by .2-.4 grains. My Hornady electronic charger/scale is off sometimes up to .2 grains for a 43.0 targeted charge weight. I individually weigh each charge on my RCBS 5-0-5 beam scale for this reason. If you set an auto charger for a certain charge weight (say 50.0 grains), they are good to read within ".1" grain. But they also have an error factor of .2 grains easily. Meaning you can be at the low end of your charge and be at 49.75 grains, or be at the high end and be at 50.25 grains. A .4-5 grain swing is bad for accuracy, and if your max pressure that your gun likes is at the 49.8, but you are getting some at 50.2, that might be enough to cause overpressure. Go up in charge weights, the error factor goes up too.Add a slight overcharge of up to .4 grains, a case that has more brass content/less capacity than previous cases (whether from brand changes or just batch or machining changes), a powder that is temp sensitive (and you did load development in a cool month), higher ambient temps, a bullet that is touching the lands, and a tight chamber, and you have a recipe for a hot load very easily. You might not even know about it.Just spit balling here. Thanks

Question about hours and pay as a salaried employee
654321 replied to PRDATR's topic in The Campfire
In 2012 one of the governors biggest pushes was to make state employees an At Will Workforce, meaning all employees would eventually become uncovered employees. In order for her to pass the budget for that year this had to happen,so effective September 29th 2012 all state employees a pay grade 19 and higher and all supervisors immediately went uncovered and any new state hired employee from here on out are uncovered. Any employee that was not a supervisor or less than a pay grade 19 could stay covered but if that employee ever changed their job status then they automatically become uncovered. Law enforcement being the exception. If employee chose to stay covered they are never eligible for a pay raise. -
I have the opposite problem with reloads and factory ammo, the rounds go into chamber just fine, bolt closes no problem but after firing sometimes I can't get the bolt open. Any suggestions?

You have to put your SSN# on every application when you apply for a big game tag so why have a separate ID#?
-
No your hunter ID# is different than your hunting license#,

Auction Elk Hunt, Units 3C, 1 and 23 North Interview with Jed Larson
654321 replied to Jay Scott's topic in Elk Hunting
Yes if he ever wants another tag or license in Az. He will have to pay the $8000 and take the hunter ed class. -
There are way over 120,000 people with bonus points. From 20 to 26 points there are close to 1900 people. There were 117 tags this year I really don't see how there is ever going to be a great way to allocate the tags.

John's client shot a rifle not a bow and then lied about having permission from land owner. The 1/4 mile rule only applies to firearms; however some cities have rules against discharging either guns or bows in city limits.

It has to be a pre-charged pneumatic weapon .22 caliber or larger.

Pick up a phone and call the Region 1 office and ask for Mike Lopez he is the Fisheries Program Manager for that region.

AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
654321 replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
If true it sounds like AZGFD is targeting landowners who choose to not participate in the Land Owners Incentive program. It certainly sounds like the ones going to be affected are the hunters paying guides who are the only ones able to hunt that public ground by accessing it thru the private property. -

Everybody has the same access to wilderness areas I believe the OP stated areas the public didn't have UNLIMITED access would be closed to hunting. -
AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
654321 replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The OP stated the AZGFD was going to not allow hunting in areas that the public didn't have UNLIMITED access, that means the public and the AZGFD don't have access. -
On the BA the only predators you can hunt are coyote and skunks

Why Can't The Fools At AZGFD Get There Sheet Together
654321 replied to hawkeye's topic in Elk Hunting
Just put in 4 apps for Antelope and 4 apps for Elk, couldn't have gone any smoother -
More than likely this happened in the 20% pass of the draw. You didn't have a low enough random number for your first choice so you got your 2nd choice. The draw then moved on to part two and all the tags in your first choice didn't go so draw moved on to part three same thing so now there are leftovers.

What about Havealina?
-
Does your favorite archery unit usually have leftovers? If it does I would put in for rifle and pick up your archery tag as a leftover
-
Yep if you can swing it you should get the paperwork from G&F for a champ permit and go get your buck, if there is no chance of making hunt donating the tag is a great alternative.

You clearly have probably gotten your share of high jumping awards. Take care, Willie Nope, played baseball in the spring never tried track

Wow I didn't know AZGF owns the wildlife? I thought they just managed them???[/quote The state of AZ owns the wildlife the AZGFD manages the wildlife for the state since that head isn't going to be legally picked up it now belongs to the state aka the AZGFD. If the head ends up with the G&F which by law it should the AZGFD would sell it at auction the proceeds from the sell go into the G&F LAW enforcement fund not the states general fund.
