Eric York was a biologist for the GCNP he died from the plague in 2007, he got the disease from a female mt lion he did a neo-cropsy on. Plenty of nasty crap in AZ, West Nile, Lyme disease, Hanta virus, ect. ect.

You should have a good chance, the 30's are usually the last to go due to access issues.

I would start in Madera Canyon

I too use copper bullets when lucky enough to draw the Kaibab and I believe it's at about 90% of the hunters that hunt the Kaibab voluntarily use lead free ammo, but please if you're going to tell me to use "common sence" learn to spell it. I'll help you out this time COMMON SENSE.

I can remember running into the WM for 37B at the time in 1998 or 1999 and the unit had just switched over to the any antlered deer hunt so I asked him if there were a lot of whitetails. He said not to many but the reason for the change was he had checked a guy that had killed a 3X3 whitetail I believe near Krozier(spelling could be wrong) Peak in between Hayden and Kearny and he wrote him a citation because the tag was for mule deer only, after that incident he had the hunt changed to any antlered deer.

There is no law saying that if you use lead bullets you have to take gut pile out of the field. Not sure if they're still doing it or not but they use to have some of the condor crew running all over the BAB handing out garbage bags to those that said they weren't using lead free ammo. You could load the gut pile in bag and take it to the check station and they would put your name in for a drawing, I believe it was for a gift card or such.

If you think your kid will continue hunting buy um a lifetime license and never worry about it again.

Anyone dreaming about a CHAMP hunt on the Kaibab better draw this year because it will be the last.

Look at the 2016 draw reports.

Go to the AZGFD web page, click on hunting and then hunter education. It will list the available classes.
-
If it would have been an AZGFD employee this thread would be 15 pages already. Lol
-
Just heard on Fox 10 that fire was started by off duty Border Patrol agent recreational shooting, oops
-
The list will come out when AZGFD releases the draw results to everyone, according to the regs first come is by mail only April 24th.

Russel tank in unit 9 is full and actually was stocked with trout, I believe the last time it was stocked was 2005.
-
I could be wrong it certainly wouldn't be the first time but I believe point guard is only available to applicants who apply online, and I believe you are correct that point guard is only for successful applicants.

Technically the AZGFD never banned baiting, if you want to go pour 50 lbs of corn out in the forest it's perfectly legal, what they did ban was the act of taking big game over an edible substance. From what I gathered from the commission meeting they aren't looking to ban trail camera's just the take of big game within a 1/4 mile of a trail camera. One of the commissioners asked what if somebody shared a picture with someone from their trail camera but the owner of the trail camera didn't hunt it what would happen. AZGFD response was they would make sure the language for the law would cover all bases and both parties could be cited for take.
-
The 1/4 mile law only applies if you don't have permission to discharge a firearm or soon to be bow and arrow from the occupied structures owner. If there are that many locals that hunt that close to their homes just get permission to discharge your weapon, then your fine.

What were some of the rule changes proposed? One change had to do with trail camera's, I didn't catch all of it so I'm not sure if it was within a 1/4 mile of a trail camera being near water or a 1/4 mile of being within a trail camera but your weren't going to be able to take wildlife near a trail camera. Another one that caught my eye was it looked like they were going to make archery fall within the 1/4 mile of occupied structure rule just like firearms. Those were just a couple.

Just watched bits and pieces of the commission meeting, looks like there was at least a 10% increase in applications this year and the presenter said they weren't quite done processing all the paper apps yet, also some very interesting proposed rule changes coming.

Can you explain what squaring the bonus points would do?[/quote 5 bonus points would give you 25 random numbers where 3 would give you 9 random numbers in the draw so although only 2 points difference now would get bigger and bigger the more points you have, if that makes sense
