How many of you guys set up spike camps when hunting coues deer. I have just outfitted myself with the J34 pack, tent, sleeping bag, pad, stove basically the main essentials for backpacking. Question is what have all of you found is a must have in your packs. Also how much water should I plan on per day? Looking forward to October and really challenging myself this year, any advice would be appreciated.

Rackemup no worries! I am just trying to imagine carrying that weight and don't know how you guys do it.

Triton thanks for the advice about the water. If I end up hiking water in I will make sure to hang it off of the ground.

Yes water is my main concern. I have been thinking I may hike in a couple of gallons and put them under a tree week before hunt.

I will be hiking in early Friday morning and coming back out Sunday afternoon. Thanks for all the tips looking forward to this years hunt.

Will be leaving tomorrow for my cousins hunt. Was going through pictures from 2011, and 2010 hunt getting fired up! Thought I would share, good luck to all who are headed out this weekend and next week.
