Well, just got back to my sister amd BIL house. Did a 6 pack off a 50ft sportfisher yacht and we go skunked. Had fish all over almost every stop. Good jumpers too. My cousin hooked one and forgot to keep a finger on spool and went for the handle, well kaboom there is the biggest birds nest ever and line snaps and gone. I got one with Tranx 400 and 20lb line and number 1/0 hook, great fight, it was back and forth and almost spooled me, got back half the reel, and sawed off. I threw a madscad and iron jig and no luck. We could not land one, nore get any more bites. Bait was purchased night before and was beat up, I think fresh bait would have helped. Still had a blast and great trip with family.

Are you chartermaster now too? I have played chartermaster twice now, as Lee mentions the antics will happen, also a day trip or 6 pack instead of 1 5 day. I would be down between hunts.

Sounds like a great trip and great memories. We are leaving at 230 am and i rigged my 9ft with 50 lb for a squish jig and the 8'2" 30 ln on a purple Nomad Madscad. Beer, pizza, PBnJ amd donuts are staged. Spending Saturday night at the Hilton, then heading back to my sister and BIL house. Ill post report either late Sat or Sun afternoon.

side note I was out at the channel islands harbour near Ciscosa landing in Ventura county, and boats brought in decent few yellowtails. No BFT or YFT yet this far north. I fish a lot out of here amd go to the Channel islads, rock fish, YT are nice grade, calico bass are super fun, and its close to my family place, so easy trips.

Nice fish, It sucks when captain or crew say it will tough etc. I didnt pay to hear that, be positive. I had arrived really early to the Commander, which the owners tried to sink for insurance, it all on BD. The crew let me board amd store my gear early, so we BSd, i asked why you all rewrapping all the gafs, did you kill it last night? Nope, no fish, bad mojo, hasnt been good etc... i should have grabbed my stuff and left, only 1.5 day trip, caight nothing but a buzz and full belly of food, nonody on the boat got a bite or landed. Nad. It is is fishing, but now i see why that boat sucked and they tried to sink it

So yes pricey, dang near boil water when sealing. They run from1 to 2k,sometimes a sale, but bags are way cheaper. Food last way longer, they are worth the price. A buddy has one, we fish or game meat, ill buy dinner, beers and bags to help him ofsett costs.

Get what you can, prices are going up as supply drops. I have a g19 gen 3 with ameriglo sights, less than 500 rounds, 2 15 rd mags $700.00 or 2 17 rd mags $800.00. Or 2 LE Marked 17 rd mags for $1,000.00. LE marked mags 17rd $100.00 each.

Get a commercial chamber vacuum sealer. Spend the money once. The bags are 100 times cheaper than food saver. Yes these are spendy and outside your 150 range, but what you can do and how much longer the food lasts.
