    Desert springs no tracks???

My guess if those are the only springs close by and theres cattle on em theres your problem. Where I hunt quail with my dad there are a few springs and the cattle are on em so bad it just smells like a dairy farm in there. I have never seen a deer anywhere near that water but watched em walk quite a ways away to water at a tank. I have heard people say they find deer and cattle together often..... but in my experience they just get annoyed by them. SMELLY ANIMALS !!!!!!!!! The quail and coyotes dont mind them tho But if theres no cows IDK sounds like a honey hole with no evidence!

First time camera guy ( my first pics) no deer

Salt. Salt. Salt. Salt. Salt. ... Im a fan of Deer Cain. But honestly any old mineral block you can get from the feed store will work, Iv even used natural salt rocks iv found out by camp verde in the salt mines. Look great and work!. The deer need their minerals might as well put it all up on a poopoo platter for em. I usuallly leave a cam out for three to four months if im not impressed by anything or convinced by then i will find a new set up. I have found that my best spots (Honey holes if you would) had deer comming in heavily after two or three weeks. Usually have lots of passers at first but thats a good sign that means deer frequent the area even without your salt or setup bringing them in. Now its just a bonus! Good luck and hope you get some whoppers on film! P.S. Never give up. I have tried numerous amounts of stands and sat in them for whole seasons with zero luck. Then all of a sudden boom its like every deer in the unit found your spot. Also CATTLE ARE THE DEVIL!

Heck of a day at Saguaro!

Went to Saguaro Lake for the first time last weekend to pre-fish for the TBA night tourney next week. We didnt have very much luck fishing at night but in the middle of the day, before we got drenched by the rain, I put my personal best in the boat at 5.1lbs, and a half our later smashed it with a 6.5. Also caught some in 3-4 lb range. Awesome Trip. Saw some nice Rams too.

Heck of a day at Saguaro!

Look up how to throw a drop shot rig. And fish with Roboworms(Really any color get em anywhere) in 10 to 30 foot of water where vegetation meets rocks.... U cant go wrong with that its my go to when in doubt and im sure many other desert anglers feel the same. My biggest one here was a dropshot fish, the other two I was swimming a bluegill color swim jig and ripping it through the grass with a crawdad trailor .

    " Coues " Pronunciation

My understanding is that "Cows" is the correct way to pronounce it, But i'v always called em "Cooz" deer, but my uncle from down south calls em "coose". I think its all just a matter of where your from and who you hunt with.

Where's that at, 190" bucks from the road!!!???...And don't forget "all the time". Iv seen 3 deer in 7 killed over 180 by my neighbor and his Wife two of them over 190 in the last three years. Now thats alot of taxidermy fees!!! Two with bow one rifle. No those were not rd bucks. BUT I have seen deer that big from rd in 18b, 7, 6a , and 5b and 11m. and I have buddies who both shot 170+ and his girlfriend got 130+. all from rd in 11m and one in 6a just last year two with bow one rifle. So yes I would say people shoot 170-190 mule deer from the rd "all the time". Not to mention most of the strip deer stories and footage I have heard and watched takes place right off of a rd. I have been around and experienced all of that for mulies and still never seen a coues I would put over my Dads 111 Buck which is my target species. That is why I say Id rather have a 120 inch coues, Cause I know quite a few people with mule deer over 180 and 190 and not one person even close to 120inch coues. Big mulies just arent quite as evasive as big WTs. in my opinion.
  24. Im heading over to williams this weekend to test the fishing over at Kaibab and cateract in unit 10 near Williams. Has anyone fished these areas in recent years? Looks like they could hold some nice bass .... also the real quesion is has anyone gotten into the coues over in that same area just passed williams? Im gonna do some hiking around/scouting while im there looking for beds tracks or rubs. It sure would be fun to hunt some coues up north in Dec.

I had to go with 120 Coues. People Shoot 170 to 190 inch mule deer from the rd all the time. Just hang out at the peaks theres a reason theres 7,000 hunters on one rd! I have never even seen a coues buck over 90 inches within a half mile of a rd.
