Well yesterday was the end of this past Fall and Winter season. Here are some stats: I visited with approximately 65 different campsites during the season. We had more but I didn't visit unless it was daylight and there was at least 1 adult man outside. So I missed talking to those who left before dawn and didn't get back to camp before dark. I found 21 campsites that had been abandoned after their hunt that still had hot coals in the firepit. We had locks cut 6 times at the our corrals and one incident where someone cut the chains with a grinder. I filled up 2 of those blue buckets (25 gallons) with beer cans and bottles left in fire pits. I almost filled one 1 full of shot gun shells. It seemed to be duck hunters were the worst offenders. The first day of hunting we had someone set up a blind inside one of our posted corrals! I found unlocked and shut gates were left open 6 times. We had 9 people park on the east side of the locked gate at Botamote Corral in the private property area. We need that area free of vehicles to allow for truck and trailers to be able to back up to the loading shoot. Noah Silva, the Game Worden, provided us with a lot more signs to inform people of the rules. Thanks Noah! I did not see all of the game that was taken but we had a few better than average animals taken. That is all I will say about that, but I will say y'all didn't get several better than average bucks I know about. I sure hope I get drawn later on this year.

Yotebuster I am not on drugs. I have been living on the ranch for a little over a year now after being in Texas for the 6 years. If you come out here I will show you a book I put together to show people how bad it was back in the 90s. Ghostbird Same for you I will be glad to show you that book also.

Folks I hate posts like this but I am pretty pissed off. The rancher has only 2 gates locked on the entire ranch. Both of them are at corrals where the ranch uses them for roundups and distribution of the livestock. The ranch has provided alternate routes to get around to the areas on the other side of each corral. Please someone enlighten me as to why it is necessary for scumbags to have to bust the locks or grind the chains off of the gates! I have lived on the ranch for over a year now and we only have trouble with this during hunting season.

Smugglers don’t travel through here during the day. Yesterday they broke it around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. I spoke to some other hunters. They said some guys on a Cam am yellow and white stopped at there camp about that time and were asking about the corral and the roads behind it. I think that is who did it. Couldn’t find them today. Most likely not hunters.

Since I did not get drawn for deer this year, I pulled my bow out of storage to get ready for an archery hunt. Well last year while still working, we were busy and a keg needed to be changed. I got back to the beer cooler and grabbed a keg. When I tried to hoist it up on the second shelf I felt a pain in my shoulder. Well I guess I was hurt more than I thought. When I tried to pull my bow back the other day I couldn't do it. Went to game and fish and got an exempt form for using a crossbow. Now I'm looking for a doctor who can fill it out. Only problem since I retired I don't have any health insurance. Went to the doctor's office who used to treat me and they said it would cost at least $250. I am looking to find a doctor who can check me out and fill out the form for a more reasonable amount of money. Any help would be great!

In 36A tonight I came across a vacant camp. It was used Thursday night through this morning around 10AM. I stopped to check the camp this evening and found 3 baseball bats and a padded toilet seat. I checked the campfire and if you would expect it to not be warm, you would be wrong. I used 2 gallons of water to cool it off. Please if you come out and camp and I hope you do. Please practice safety rules. I know most of you do. But with all of the dry grass and weeds we have, we don't need a wildfire! Thanks for reading!

I put the info about the bats and seat to make sure if the campers were members they might comment or contact me to get the stuff back.

So what does that have to do with fire safety?
