What we need to do is let the PETA people know that while we are waiting to get the draw results all we have to do is come up with a way to hunt an endangered frog. Boy... I'll bet they will get after the game and fish and the results of the draw will be out ASAP.. Lee

I have a question for the group. My brother and I have always put in for deer together as a group. Now my brother in law and nephew want to hunt with us. Should I try to get us draw as a group or should I put us all in as singles? Any help would be appreciated. Lee

Thanks for the input. I went ahead and put us all in as group. We are all AZ residents so hopefully we will get drawn. Good luck to all. Lee

I have a question about starting a salt site. I hunt in 36A on a cattle ranch. They already have salt out all over the place. Of course they have the salt by water sources. Would it do any good to start a site close to a bedding area?

Well I just heard they are putting off the hunt for these lions for now. I guess that tells you just what kind of governor we have. I think they should only allow those people that supported stopping the hunt to walk the canyon for the next month. If none of them get attacked by lions open the park back up and wait for the general public to get attacked. Then give the governor a gun and let her handle it. My 2 cents

My brother, nephew and I tried to do a little pig hunting in 36a this year. Not much luck on seeing pigs. We saw pigs on just 1 day. They were too far and running too fast for a shot. 1 day for a change we decided to sit down and use this j-13 call a bought. I'm a sucker for things like that. You shoud see my tackle boxes...... Anyway, we came across some fresh javelina sign and decided to try and call them in. We settledd down in Penitas wash. I called for about 45 minutes, no luck. We moved down the wash about 150 yards and called for another 45 minutes. still no luck. We moved down the wash about 100 yards and started to call again. My nephew is about 15 yards to my right. My brother is another 10 yards past him. My nephew says " I see a mountain lion. No I see 2 mountain lions" I said "Are you sure they are not bobcats?" While this conversation is going on my brother moves over to my nephew and sees they are indeed mountain lions. He says "You have a permit for mountain lion so SHOOT!!!" My nephew shot and brought down 1 of the lions. It was a tom about 95 lbs dressed. My brother could not get a shot off on the other lion. I was still in shock that I brought in 2 lions with this javelina call. My nephew is 17 and this was his first big game hunt. Those lions got to within 20 yards of him. I have taken him out for quail and dove before. Needless to say he is the envy of his friends right now. We also found a very large mule deer skull and rack from a lion kill in the same wash. I've got some pictures but I don't know how to post them.

Amanda, Unless my schedule changes I'll be there. 36a really got trashed this hunting season. I've cleaned up a few places already, but there is still alot of work to be done.

CHD, If this is the way you really feel thats great. You did cycle me and from the other posts a few other people. This started in your post in tagged one. You expressed concerns about 35 and 36 for next year. I responded in that topic about having hunted 36a a lot. If you decide to put in for that unit next year and get drawn let me know. If you are going to hunt alone you are welcome to camp with my brother and I. I know the area pretty well and don't mind sharing the knowledge.

Chris I am happy for you. It sounds like you either have done a very good job earning your financial situation. Or was it given to you? I think all the money you spend on toys and hunting are good for the economy and help Arizona wildlife. However, I wish you would spend sometime hungry. Then maybe you could understand how some other people feel about getting drawn and then not using a tag.

Chris, I have hunted 36a for along time. I have seen a very big increase in smuggling traffic. Just yesterday I went out there to hunt quail and helped the border patrol locate a truck load of aliens. I am out there alone most of the time. Camp alone all the time. I have never been bothered. I do keep a loaded shotgun readily available.

I had a shot at a spike and did not take it. Other than that all I saw were does and atvs.

Thanks guys. I'm going out this morning and be there until Monday. I know my legs will be sore when I get back.
