I got a pair of the Nikon 12x42 last March. I really like them. For the price I don't think you can go wrong. Lee -
Deerslam, I am sure not talking about anyone on this site when I talk about picking up after people. It never fails however, I'll see some out state plates out there and when there gone I find myself taking down turn here paper plates and shot up targets. The turn here plates always lead to the camps of the NRS. Usually there is at least a trash bag full of stuff when I'm done. Good luck on your hunting and if you ever draw 36a look me up. Lee

I do not hunt in other states first of all. It's not that I would not want to, but I can afford to only hunt in Arizona. I enjoy hunting in Arizona. I only have time to hunt in Arizona and scout it the way it should be done. When I get around to retiring and have the time to hunt other states I will be able to afford it and will have time for it. So I do not mind having NR hunters in Arizona as long as I do not have to go in behind them and clean up their mess. 10% cap is good by me. As for these boys in Tennesee... I wouldn't mind them coming to Arizona and being out in the desert where I hunt. Might get me a few Tennesee computer hacks to hang on the wall. No probably to ugly to look at. Oh well for those who got tags good luck. For those that didn't and should have good luck with the Game and Fish. And for those of you who did not get drawn good luck in the spring and next year. Lee

Michael I have hunted this unit a lot. I will be out there scouting. If you see a silver Chevy Z71 and a green cabellas lodge pole tent that's me. Fell free to stop by. Did you get Whitetail or Mule deer? Lee
-
Well, my brother and I drew whitetail oct 36a and bull elk nov 4b. That means I'll be scouting both areas as much as the schedule will allow. If anyone is out there and you see a silver Chevy Z71 and a green cabellas lodge pole tent that's me. stop in and we can compare notes if you want. Or I usually have a cold beer or two around. Some people are a little leary about camping in 36a. I have been around it for 15 years. Your welcome to camp close as long as you don't play your music real loud. I am getting old. Lee

Here is one from 36a

Doug, I'm the one who called and you sold me the Olympus e-volt package. I've had it out a couple of times and so far I'm very happy with the camera. Each time I take it out I learn more. As soon as I start getting some good pictures of deer I'll post them. So far I seem to only find does and illegal aliens. Thanks Doug. Lee

Doug I'm looking to buy a Nikon d50. I can't get the link Amanda put in here to open up in your products area to order. Can you help? Lee email address peckl1@aol.com

I just spent the last 2 days in 36a. Friday I came across a dead alien next to the road. He had a full bottle of water next to him. He must have died of heat stoke. I went and found the border patrol and took them to the body. Then yesterday on my way back in I spotted another alien lying down under another mesquite. I thought to myself not another dead body! However, when I yelled he woke up. He spoke perfect english. I gave him a bottle of gaterade and a candy bar. He wasn't in very good shape. He wanted to know how far it was to the main road. I told him to follow the dirt road out. I then left and went to find the border patrol. I told them where to find him and came on home. Oh, I did see a lot of deer. Mostly coming in to water at the corrals. Lee

What's your favorite thing about AZ?
peckl1 replied to stanley's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Well, for me, I was born in West Texas and moved out here as a child. Was in the Navy for 8 years and worked in several different states. Now I live in Green Valley and work in the hotel business. The Corporate office is in Phoenix and since I travel for work I can live any where in the country I want. I'm on the road 275 to 290 days a year. This week I'm in Phoenix. Next week is Nashville and Florence, SC. Then the next week is Orlando. In other words I get the chance to be in all parts of the country. It makes me appreciate what I have here. When I'm in other parts of the country I tell people how hot and uncomfortable it is here. I will be spending tonight and Saturday at San Carlos and next weekend scounting 36a. Lee -
I hunt 36a all the time. Most of the time I am out there alone. I see illegals traveling though alot. They don't want to bother you for the most part. I always leave extra water out at the camp site. Sometimes it is gone when I get back to camp sometimes not. Last year I left a pork roast in a dutch oven in my fire pit. When I got back that night the oven was gone. I found it about a month later in a wash about 100 yards from the camp. I guess I fed some illegals. If I'm drawn again for 36a I'll be there and anyone who wants to camp close is more than welcome. Just don't play the stereo to loud. I'm getting old. I will be out there during the archery season. If you see a 95 silver Z71 chevy thats me. Stop by. Lee

Is it me or does this sound like a CHD post. Lee

You Guys are killing me. I'm sitting here trying to procter an exam for 20 people and I bust up laughing. Thanks I needed that. Lee -
I don't have a tag but live in Green Valley. I'll try to get down if I can. The Cow Skull is really the Longhorn Grill. The Cow Palace is across the street with a cow on the roof. Lee

I was drawn for 36A pig. If you need to find out the unit you were drawn in go to the spring regs and match the hunt number with the unit number. Lee

gnoto, Sorry I missed you. Hope you had a good hunt. I wound up taking a fork horn. I had a chance at two nice bucks could not get a shot off at either before they left the area. I did meet some great guys from thr Black Rock Hunting Club. They are all from the Pheonix area. While they were glassing a hill out in 36a fro Whitetails they spotted a great mule deer. They came over to my camp that night to tell me. They took me to the place they spotted him. My brother and I went up the hill after him. We got close but I did not see the buck. My brother saw him just as the buck decided to leave the area. I plan to watch the area for him and try to figure out where he will be on Jan 1st. Lee

Just got back in from setting up my camp. Did a little scounting and saw a couple of good mulies (carp). My camp is located for those of you who can read a map or have a gps at N 31 47' 14.8" W 111 17' 44.3". Sorry I can't figure out how to put a degree symbol on the first number. For the rest of us, take Batomonte Ranch rd through the big corral past Batomonte hill. Just past the gate that was destroyed by smugglers take the right fork around the small hills then over a couple of ridges and then down through Papago wash. At the top of that ridge my camp will be on the left. Blue and white tent with gold trim. I'll be driving a silver Chevy Z71 and brother will be in his red nissan pathfinder. Stop by and have a beer. Good Luck to all. Lee

I just came back in for supplies. My little brother got a nice 4x4 on Saturday. I have passed on a spike and a fork horn. I'll try and look you up gnoto. That is if your still out there. I'll be out until I get a deer or the 13th which ever comes first. Lee

I guess I'll jump in on this one too. I pronounce it "cows". I haven't been hunting them as long as most of you, but I sure enjoy the whole thing. Right or wrong I'm not sure. I was born in Texas and moved out here when I was 10. It does bother me when I hear people say "Pee cos" instead of Pecos and "Ro day o" instead of Rodeo. So what came first the chicken or the egg?!? Lee

I got there at 7:45 and signed in. I got my 10 trash bags and went out to the area I hunt. After filling them and the back of my truck I went back and unloaded. When I went into the area where everybody camped, all I saw were a bunch of kids running around. Not that I'm an old fart or anything, but they were making me a bit nervous. So I left.
