I gotcha Good Luck!
-
Hmmm. If I had the money buddy, I'd offer it. We educators are gettin' hit pretty hard right now I know its a lot to ask of folks to give out info. I'm the same way when its asked the other way around, especially when it comes to deer. I plan on getting up there this summer to learn as much as I can before the fall comes back around. I'll put my time in Not knowing the unit at all, I figgered I'd might as well ask. Don't hurt none, but now I guess I am officially an E-SCOUTER. Ouch it hurts to say that

Great American Deer Raffle!!!
Coues79 replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Conservation Group Events
I am planning on hunting coues deer until I take a 140"+ buck once I get my name pulled out of the hat I have a good feeling. -
I am not sure I understand your question, but you have to put in specifically for the type of ram you want to hunt. From what I can remember they don't issue Desert Ram tags in the units they offer Rocky Rams in and vice-versa. There have been both draw types for awhile if I remember correctly. P.S. that is a bummer you had such luck in 31. Not fun when you put in the effort and time and get skunked like that. One comment I have on the Regs. is....... Has anyone noticed how they added 250 tags in 36A and B when those units combined offered almost 1100 leftover tags last year. Strictly a revenue making move??? Thoughts, Comments?? I personally think they should leave it be. Do we really have to wipe out more deer just because they are there. Also why increase and possible degrade the experience with extra hunters, when clearly the demand is lacking? I just don't see where they specify what type (legal animal), just general bighorn. For the bag limits all it specifies is one of each per lifetime. Yeah it was a bummer.

Dang, 31 whitetail is getting hit with 110 fewer tags, with a 40 tag increase in December. That puts the total available tags in December to 165. It was a rough go for me in 31 last year. I hunted really hard probably 10 days between my hunt and a Buddies December hunt. I never glassed, jumped or saw a live mature buck. Crazy, cause we have taken some toads out of 31. How long have the Bighorn tags been an either type (Rocky or Desert) animal? I haven't put in for them in the past, so I'm unsure, maybe they've always been like that. Do the unit descriptions generally encompass only one species? Thx

I'm not going to do my homework on this one, which may leave me vulnerable, but I believe I read a post by Heffelfinger last year about how the biologists recommend tag number increases or decreases. One of the stipulations regarded hunter success; If the success rate falls within a certain percentage, they will either increase, decrease or maintain current tag numbers. (If I'm wrong then I'm wrong) If Game and Fish uses success percentages to help dictate how many tags are issued, why not have mandatory success reporting? Why not have mandatory success reporting anyways? What harm would it do to our wildlife herds? I can see your argument about regulations as I am for less too. But taking 2 minutes out of our lives to report if you were successful on a hunt seems something that would be easy to do and isnt' going to hurt the wildlife.

This is an absolute "NO BRAINER" that Game and Fish should implement. First, it is going to boost feedback on harvest information, regardless if they have high returns on the survey cards. If you make folks have to report it, or else they don't hunt the next year, people are going to get the picture. We all see it in terms of being able to hunt, but the big picture encompasses our wildlife. It is for the benefit of WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT. Second, it shows who is really going to be concerned with the future of our wildlife. People who really care, are going to report their success. That is part of being a responsible hunter. We want to be a good model what it means to be a hunter, for our youth, for the public and for recruitment of new hunters. We want responsible people and a good name for ourselves. Third, there are 3 different methods that could be impemented to serve all of the folks that drew tags. Offer a phone in method, mail-in method and reporting online. There should be no excuse if success is not reported. Fourth, if they want to save money, they can cut the survey cards or mail in report success, and strictly go to online or telephone reporting. You may have a few complaints for those that aren't computer savvy or don't know how to use a phone. Last, if for some reason someone forgot to report, it is only one year you go without having a chance to apply in the lottery. Remember, we still have loads of other animals where one could get an OTC tag to go and pursue. I don't understand why this idea can't be implemented. It is for the help of Wildlife Management.

Why make it a once in a lifetime thing? How about simply adding 10 permits or so to the early elk season open only to holders of Pioneer licenses and let us compete in a draw with other Arizona seniors? To qualify for a Pioneer's license, a hunter must have been a resident 20 years (I think it is) and be at least 70 years old. My wife and I got ours three years ago. There aren't enough antelope tags to hold a seniors only hunt, and there are too many youngsters who haven't hunted antelope here yet. I stopped applying in Arizona years ago for that very reason. Bill Quimby Why make it a once in a lifetime tag? I'm not sure how many folks would qualify to be in the drawing for one of the Seniors tags (pioneer license, etc.)if it were set up with some of the stipulations that have been mentioned on this thread, but if there are too many folks that meet the criteria, are we going to have the odds of drawing a tag become really difficult to obtain.......again? One of the reasons I would support a Seniors hunt is to get the folks a last shot at harvesting an animal before they are unable to be in the field any longer; especially folks that have supported the great sport for so many years. If there were not some kind of drawing stipulations, i.e. once in a lifetime tag, once every 3 year tag, etc., there are going to be some hunters that won't ever draw the seniors hunt! It definitely should be something G&F should consider IMO, I would support it and feel the majority of hunters across the spectrum would also support it. One thing is garaunteed, we are all eventually going to get to the point of being in a "Seniors Hunt" situation, so for all of us young folk', that is also something to consider. It might give us one last chance to go out with a BANG!

As mentioned before, I think its a good idea especially for those that have supported AZ hunting for many, many years. Hence having to have applied for so many previous years, or so many bonus points. They could set it up to be during the same hunt as the early rifle bull, but its own separate category to apply. Once in a lifetime tag. Non-transferrable.

My brother has one and it is one heavy SOB. Very sturdy but heavy.

Here's a twist on this issue...I got my results over the phone Sunday Night - I didn't draw skunked all around. Just for kicks I check online and I shows I drew my first choice antelope hunt. I don't know what to think. Should I just wait to see if I get a tag or a refund back. I really want call G&F but I'm sure they are just going to tell me the phone is right and online is wrong. The uncertainty is killing me. What should I do? Yes. Check and print your online results. It clearly states on your results page that these are your official notifications (Please print this page showing your 2009 Elk & Antelope Hunt Draw results and retain. The printout is your official notification of your drawing results.) Print em' out, call em' just to make yourself feel better, then sit back and wait for your tag. Congratulations.

a seniors hunt. They have a juniors......why not? I like that idea. There could be a percentage set aside for these hunts, only get to draw one senior tag in a lifetime. Could be set up during the rut. If there are not enough people to fill the tags for the senior hunts, they can issue them back into the regular draw.

-
They did finally come up!! I was able to get through twice to find out the ol' man didn't get drawn. Then found out my wife drew a 22N cow tag! Then, got through again to find out my info. hit all the right keys, "DRAW RESULTS ARE UNAVAILABLE!!!" What the heck is that!!! ARGHHHHHHH Keep trying.
-
You'd think with less applicants the results could be posted sooner than previous years . Those folks probably want to get them out as bad as we want them out. I can't imagine the calls that come in every hour asking the same ol' questions of when they'll be posted :o . I don't think it's gonna be today. Next week.

2009 Elk and Antelope Application numbers
Coues79 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
So its fair to say then that all apps have been opened, accounted for, entered into the system and the draw has already occurred then? -
I wonder if those "Draw" folks have a computer window open to CouesWhitetail.com and are reading these threads? They probably have a good ol' time with each other sayin', "You tell this next ol' boy results are coming out next week." "I'll tell the next ol' boy the draw ain't been done yet." "Then, let's watch and see which ol' boy it is when he posts it up!" "YEEHAW, Mildred! I ain't had this is much fun since I crocheted Junius' blanket a few years back!!" "WHEEEW"
