    Thought on Permit Fees

+1 for a good idea. While the paper applications are still being used, I see this as being a beneficial method for most folks to look into the future. Once the online application process begins again, I think a lot of people will start putting the costs back onto their cards, so the "fund" may not be as big to the G&F. Nevertheless, I don't mind them keeping my money for future draws, as long as it is a reliable and fail safe system. If they can earn interest on the money then fine; doesn't bother me.

    photo radar ticket

I got one in the mail a couple months back and I didn't pay it. When I recieved the "notice of violation" not "citation", all of the wording was put as "If you don't pay this, you "may" have additional costs, but license will not be suspended, no warrant issued, no points on driving record and so on. Just last week, I got a second notice in the mail stating that I had to pay the 181 dollar fine, show up to court before August 10th, or else I "may" have a warrant out for my arrest. Pretty wierd. What I don't like, its not a citation, just a notice that a person violates the speed limit. There are 1000's of people daily "violating" the speed limit, even in front of officers, given the flow of traffic, and they have no repurcussion. I don't like it one bit, but with the threat of a warrant, I guess I would rather pay the money. Can't afford to have a warrant. Good Luck. I would like to hear others' input too.

    AWESOME COUES COLLECTION !!

That's just not right. Too many big bucks for one person. I need just ONE, over 110. Just one. Thanks for sharing. That's a SWEET wall he has there.

    broadheads

Phat heads are some of the thickest and toughest metal for Cut on Contact broadheads that are on the market. If you were interested in toughness of a head, I don't think you can beat them. Supposed to (just like a lot of claims) fly just like a field point. I have purchased a few packs and have yet to fly them on my arrows. Time will tell how they fly.

    Draw results

Results for Elk and Pronghorn took about 7 weeks to come out after the deadline date; Feb 10th to March 27th. Its been roughly 4.5 weeks for the Fall Draw since the deadline date ended; June 9th to July 10th. It would seem like a miracle if they came out this early (but still hangin' on to that miracle) . Don't more people apply during the Fall Draw, rather than the Mid-Winter Draw? More apps. to process seems like it would take longer to me Regardless of what happens, I will still be hunting Coues Deer in December. Just gotta find out if its with a rifle (draw) or my bow (OTC) Have I bought into the hype, called and checked the AZGFD website? Is a frog's butt water tight?
  8. Hopefully I can pull my little guy off of the quad to actually get to hikin' and glassin' up monster bucks. I'm startin' to save up now for the glass I told mama it'll have to be a pair of swaro's, but she didn't seem to see the humor or necessity it was. She prefers Leica.

    Organ Donors

Very coincedental you say that, my first cousin is in the Mayo Clinic awaiting a heart transplant as well. Mother, early 30's, 4 young children. It's a tough one to swallow for just the person, let alone the kids and spouse that are affected. I hope it works out for your friend. God Bless.
  12. OK, OK, you can put in with me next year if you get your bonus point this year. We will have 5 points averaged out and should have a good chance at drawin' a Dec. hunt

    Help me understand

Ya-but, that is cuz there ain't no deer in unit 22. And when there are soooooo few deer it is nice not to have any competion in the woods. Seems to me everyone oughta hunt 31 cuz there must be more deer there if they offer more tags. Kinda like the rest of the 30's (units) where a guy can see 100+ deer in a day. If there is a place in 31 that you can see 100+ deer a day, I would love to know where it is. The deer numbers in that unit have been declining over the past 5 years and are now what looks to appear somewhat close to what unit 29 holds (just looking at availability of tags) . 29 took a tremendous hit by drought in the early part of the decade and is slow to recover. The deer numbers in that unit used to be crazy high, but are minimal at best anymore. There are some big bucks in 31, granted, some are taken every year, but that goes for every coues unit. I mentioned before in another thread that last year, I hunted a ridiculous amount of time in 31 (November and December) in places that I have taken big deer 100+ along with other family and friends. I did not see one mature buck, all spikes and 2-points, of which were few and far between. I don't think the alternative management strategies are working for 31.

    2009 Bull Elk

With a November archery Bull tag, I am not going to be very picky. A lot depends on what I am seeing prior to the hunt and how the weather plays out (wet or dry). I would like to take a decent bull (300 +) but if a raghorn steps out and presents a shot, I would be hard pressed to pass it up, considering its November (no rut) and my first archery Bull

    nikon monarch 12x56

Never used the 12x56's but used to own the 10x56. They are a pretty nice glass, nice and clear, good in low light conditions. You can pick up a pair of demo's from Doug at Cameraland for a dang good price (for the 10's, not sure if he has the 12's on demo), I think they're worth the money easily. I did find that the tripod adapter was a little tough to get screwed in. Small area for a rather large adapter, so it was a tight fit with your fingers as you screwed it in. I would carry a small screwdriver for the process. Good Luck.

    Minox vs Vortex

I have looked through the vortex that you are talking about and they are OK. Not the highest quality. If you are looking to spend around that amount, the Nikon Monarch 10x42's aren't bad either. If you wanted to step up to a bigger, brighter objective, the 10x56 Monarch's are a good pair and I honestly like them. They are not swaro or leica, but good glass. Doug at Cameraland sells the demo's for a good deal. Don't be afraid to get a pair of demo's from him. They are in top notch condition and he is excellent to deal with. Good luck.

Leica Douvid 10+15x50... Who has used them?

I have used the duovid 10+15 and yes, they are exceptional glass. Very clear, edge to edge. Definitely a sharp pair of glasses. Swaro or Leica, you can't go wrong. They are the best, its all about preference.
