The 104 is a flat out awesome pack. There is not a whole lot of difference in the two packs, as I have seen them side by side. I own a 104 and the suspension and distribution of the weight is awesome. I think its 4500 cc without the additional pack that you can add. Its a flat out huge pack that can haul some serious gear. I love it. There could be a few more compartments added to these packs for smaller items, however the comfort of the pack makes up for everything.

If I were to kill a buck/bull way in somewhere, I would have to say a knife. I've left the tripod before. Sure does suck. Makes me feel like the day is a waste without it.

Stud buck right there. Cool deal to see that you found him again this hunting season. Congratulations.

I think this would be a good thread to pin for all to see. Doug has a great list. Many could benefit from this thread.

Great job! Killer buck!

That's a real bummer deal man. I'm really sorry to hear that news, after being drawn for a tag, arrowed a nice bull, then that happens. Sorry bud.

Best week in January to try and catch the rut.

You have a good time planned if you stick with that time frame. I think it is best the 2nd week in January. Hopefully there will be good winter moisture so that many does will cycle this year. -
Out of Ignorance- nonpermit-tag
Coues79 replied to Buzz_Saw's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Please forgive me, but I am brain damaged. Really. Traumatic Brain Injury. BLUF- I do not understand what a nonpermit-tag is and what privileges and requirements adhere. Please explain, somebody!! A non-permit tag is one that does not have to be obtained through the lottery process of issuance of big game tags. In other words, you can purchase them over-the-counter at local AZGFD vendor i.e. Wal-Mart, Sportsmans Warehouse etc. These non-permit tags usually offer a generous hunting season, however, per species the legal method of take will be restricted. i.e. Archery deer for most units is a non-permit tag during the early fall, and in December and January. There are a few species in which have rifle hunts that are non-permit hunts but you must read up on, on the AZGFD website. Some have specific areas that you must adhere to, or, will tell you the specific season/time/legal game. The elk that you are referencing in 31 will be very hard to find, and I believe you must obtain the non-permit tag at an AZGFD office (not 100% sure, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong). Good luck finding the elk! Here are a few links that may be helpful. Good luck. http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/BigGameDrawingProcess.shtml http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/OverTheCounter.shtml http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/downloads.shtml -

My uncle found a drop skull of a buck from the north part of the chiricahua's about a decade or more back. It is also an incrediblely insane, massive monster. He is a 3x4. Every time I see that rack on his wall, it makes my innards shake. I need to get a picture of it and post it up on here. Anyways, there must be some good genes down in that country. If where he found it would ever recooperate from the drought, I would spend more time down in that country to see if I could find some distant relatives of this buck. He is flippin' ridiculous huge. Ok, i need to stop talking about it, its making me

There have been a few shows that I have seen on coues deer. Don't remember the name AND they are few and far between. Some of the shows are a little bit ridiculous. I particularly cannot stand when they do set up shots, act like they are in the heat of the moment, act like they are glassing or whatever, then pull the trigger and act all gitty like they just killed somethin'. TOTALLY faked out the kill shot just to get some type of action. Or, when they have the camera set up right behind the deer that was killed, have Hunter Dan walking looking for blood, then, WOW, surprise, theres the buck. WOOHOO. The camera found him before I did. Some of them are ridiculous, but I have to admit, that I do enjoy watching some big ol' bruiser bucks get taken out. So, my vote is to keep them on TV, even the cheesy ones that I mentioned above. They're all trying to promote our passion, just some in different ways than we are used to.

The type of hunting that we do for coues deer is quite different than other types of deer hunting from Texas-east. Simply too thick of cover, and lots of flat, flat land, not to mention lots of privately owned country. While I was in Alabama for a couple years, you had to either brave going into scarcely public land with tons and tons and tons of other hunters, or, pay your dues to hunt on a leased out section of land, or, be part of a hunting club that had access to private land. It's a different type of hunting. I am glad that we have the opportunity to hunt the ways that we do here in AZ. Lot's of public land with the ability to get away from crowds of people if you are willing to do some walking. I'm not too interested in the type of hunting that you described, but for some, that's all the opportunity they can get. I imagine if that's all I had, I would be out there doing the same thing. I'm just glad I don't have to

http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/from-fro...fdate=10_9_2009 I love this tripod. Use my 15's on it and stand up to glass all the time. It does awesome in the wind, light weight, folds up small, super smooth head and sets up quick. Get a couple adapter plates for easy interchange between spotter and binoculars and its a smooth deal. I love it. I've also seen a vortex tripod that was pretty nice too. Don't have the link for it, but I understand it was relatively cheap, $150 range.

Very cool deal right there. Congratulations to a great hunter! Keep it up big guy!

I am again selling some stuff for one of my brothers. These are his prices, if you are interested let me know via PM. These are on craigslist. Waders are brand-spanking new (I saw they are 149 + tax new) and the U-boat is brand new too, however, I think it sat in some sunlight somewhere and has faded a bit. There is some fraying on one of the straps, but it comes with flippers and a pump. Please no low ballers. Here are the links. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/spo/1386237913.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/spo/1386233263.html

Selling a front rack for a Yamaha Rhino. Its in good condition. Great to have to carry extra gear with, i.e. ice chests, packs or a coues deer! PM or email if you're interested. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/for/1408242847.html

Its actually a naturally occurring compound. Na and Cl (elements) combine to create sodium chloride, which is the edible substance :P Just havin' fun

It's been rough the past few years IMO for your unit. Stockton pass will hold some deer and if the rut kicks in there could be some good bucks. This place will get hit pretty hard but if there's hot does the bucks will be cruisin so you never know. Swift trail will also be the same way, gets hit pretty good but there are some decent bucks you can find. Get off the roads and glass hard. Good luck

Replied to you Ray. Thank you.
