Welcome to our new sponsor - Optics 4 Rent

Cool! I think there are some folks on here that do glass rather frequently with 10's off of a tripod was the reason for me asking. Some may feel the weight of the 15's plus the tripod gets cumbersome over the course of a day hiking in coues country. Welcome to the site and good luck with your business here!

Welcome to our new sponsor - Optics 4 Rent

Pretty cool deal. Prices seem pretty fair as well. Could save some folks some serious money if they're not into or cannot afford the huge payment. What tripod is included with the package deals and is it possible to get a tripod with the 10's or 8's?
  3. You can freeze a few 16 oz water bottles and wrap them up in socks or some sort of insulation, a few inches thick. The insulation will help to keep them frozen longer. When you get your meat deboned and ready to pack into whatever it is (I like the pillowcases as well) put the water bottles in with the meat. It will help to start the cooling process.

    Topo maps for San Carlos

Is there a difference between these two aside from price and the look on the box; such as an updated version? One I pulled up off the CWT store and the other directly from National Geographic website. I do want to be able to utilize the 3D option. Is this available off of the one we can buy through CWT store? Leftover tags

Fill out a regular application just like normal. If you are one of the first come, they will issue you a tag and mail it to you. To know if you were drawn, give it at least a couple days to call and ask the ladies if you were able to snag one up. They have to manually search, its not automated like the normal draw. There will be a ton of applications going in so a lot to process. If you don't get one, they will return your application to you, opened with a stamp on it that says "unsuccessful hunt filled", with your check or money order. Hope this helps you out.

    Thank You

In complete agreement. Nice job AZGFD. I wonder if the "New" person that got hired in the draw dept. got everything lined up good? That job was open a couple months ago.

    MUle Deer Unit 29

Its tough. Access is an issue in 29, so are the mule deer numbers. Take a trip down and do some early morning/late evening glassing in areas that you can access. Good Luck.

    Kowa Spotter VS. Swarovski Spotter

I think youre going to find that most people on the hunting forums are going to have swaro spotters moreso than Kowa. Like I said earlier, I have personally looked through both and I felt the Kowa edged out the swaro. The crispness and edge to edge clarity was unbelievable. If I were to be a glasser that glassed through a spotting scope, I would own the Kowa and I am partial to Swaro products. They are both going to be phenomenal glass without a huge difference between the two. With as big of a purchase as it is, you should view them first. You will always be wondering if you made the correct decision otherwise. Either way, you are going to arguably have the best spotter on the market. Good luck with the purchase and post up some pics when you finally get them in hand.

    Is this a good deal?

Also don't forget to check with Doug at cameraland. They're a sponsor of the sight. I've bought several optics from him and will continue to do business with them. http://www.cameralandny.com/ The nikon's are a pretty good glass. I've had a pair of 10x56 and thought they were really nice. I imagine the 12's are pretty nice too. Good luck.

    Kowa Spotter VS. Swarovski Spotter

I've looked through both. I thought the Kowa was a better glass. I am very partial to swaro too, but they just seemed to be better.

Yes definitely a nice deal. Have to see how the NM draw goes in a month or so if you still have em'. I am interested in them.

    7 deadlypins

Don't have the SDP. Still shoot the Black Gold Dusk Devil 2. I like it. Add lots of pins with ease and not nearly as pricy. Kind of an older sight, but works good for me.

Are the draw results up yet???

Gal said that they had around 2000 applications come in yesterday; they got through about 1/4 with two ladies doing the opening (wonder how many paper cuts they'd get! Ouch) If you check the website, all the hopi hunts are gone. Give them some time to finish up the rest of the LO tags and I'm sure we'll know. Good luck if you applied.

Are the draw results up yet???

Gal I just talked with said that it would take until the end of the week to process all the apps that came to the office today and to find out. Surely, this can't be the case? Don't know. Pretty slim shot at getting one of the tags if she's bein honest!

    Need advice for GPS purchase

If you decide you don't want the touchscreen, the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx is a dang nice GPS. All of those features you mentioned, minus the touchscreen. It has more programs than I'll ever use, but being able to have topo maps, contour lines, old petered out roads and such is awesome. I couldn't believe some of the roads the thing has on it, not to mention tanks and springs. It picks up satellites with the WAAS capability indoors. I don't know how, but the thing picks up signals inside enclosed brick buildings. Pretty cool, glad I picked it up. If you get a chance, make sure and read up on the reviews for the touchscreens. I was wanting one of those as well, but many folks had mentioned issues in being able to view the screen in certain types of situations i.e. sunlight or shade. But, they sure do look cool.

    And Now We Wait.....

Another round of impatiently waiting...... They haven't hit the bank account yet for me. I'm actually ready for the 800 bucks to come out, just to know I did everything right. I wonder what impact if any, paying the full fee upfront will have on non-resident applications? I'm guessing as not too much, since cc's are allowed for the draw. I don't see a huge impact but am hopeful! Good Luck!

    earthquake

The wife and I were sitting at the dinner table and noticed the chandelier moving. When I told her I thought it was an earthquake, she laughed and said "yeah right". Later, it was shown to really have been one. Pretty interesting stuff.
  24. Looks like they are finally getting the picture about 31. Not the same as it used to be, the cuts are a good thing IMO.
