Doesn't seem to be as much media coverage on this significant fire. The media was all over the RC fire when it happened. Anyways, here is what was highlighted at the community meeting held tonight. It has to be a frightening time for a lot of people. It's sickening to think of how much has burned. Spotting in Nutrioso, 40 mph winds overnight Th/Fri; horrible conditions. http://www.wmicentral.com/news/eagar-public-meeting-updates-status-of-wallow-fire-conditions-worse/article_39ab81fe-8a47-11e0-abac-001cc4c002e0.html

New perimeter updated. Hope it doesn't get into the Escudilla complex.... http://inciweb.org/incident/2262/

Dang. 106k acres now. Crazy.
-
Sorry to hear that Bruce.
-
Does anyone have any updated info on size? The incident page still has it at 40k but that's been there for a while.

You can always take your thoughts to the meetings and voice your concerns. It looks like theyre encouraging that this year. Voice your opinion. It surely wont hurt........

Yes. I would vote for it to happen. It seems as if it would help to alleviate some anxiety amongst those that did apply; or at least the anxiety of the "unknown" of when they will actually come out. If there are indeed factors that come into play that will alter the results being posted by that date, it would be possible to communicate this to the public through various resources. This is perhaps something the Game and Fish could look at.

Who are you hearing from? Game and Fish or rumors? The lil' ol' draw dept. lady? She was correct last year.
-
Yep. Listened to it as well. Only 41 folks logged on to listen..... Press release coming out by close of business day. Hope the results come out soon now.
-
Sure wishin they'd post em on up!

Lark said it very well and I am one that feels the same way as him. I know we all have our own thoughts, but to me, his hits the nail right on the head. I'm pretty sure he's hunted in those units.... Pretty sure he grew up in the Gila Valley and has hunted most places down south. I will agree with you that access has developed into a huge problem in those units; it would sure be nice to get more access available for us all. The Klondyke side of 31 is getting to be just as bad for access. How about 76 ranch? Any access there?

Lived there for two years going to college.....Some of the best two years of my life playin' ball and meetin some good ol' folks down there. Made some of the best friends one could ever ask for. I saw boiled peanuts all over but never got to try them. Wish I would've though. I do know the crawfish sure did taste good down there....mmmmmm. Love it!

Vortex Skyline 20-60x80 Spotting Scope Sale - Only $299.99
Coues79 replied to gr8fuldoug's topic in Optics and tripods
Yes, I have one. Its a pretty good spotting scope. It's not the quality of a swarovski or Kowa, but it is nice and well worth $299. I bought mine from Doug a couple years ago....can't go wrong with Cameraland IMO. -
This exact thing happened to my wife in this past year's deer draw. Drew her 2nd choice, as she was in the bonus point pass for the December hunt she drew. She was not in the bonus point pass for her first choice, so she was never really even given a shot at her most sought after choice. I realized this after she put in and had figured before the results came out that she'd get to hunt in December regardless; which of course isn't too bad of an occurance. Is it? Yes, do be cautious. Good information Doug.

Yes, this is correct.

Hey guys and gals, I've got a bull skull and antlers I'm needing to get boiled out for a European Mount. I'm wondering if anyone has a big ol' pot I can borrow to do the boiling (has to be pretty darn big!) I live in Payson, work in East Mesa. If you do have one and would be willing to let me borrow it, I'd be greatly appreciative! Thank you and please send me a PM! Coues79

I've got a couple of upcoming hunts in 29 here shortly, one for myself and one for my wife. I know where we are going to hunt and am trying to find out if there has been any illegal activity in the area as of late. My wife is somewhat uneasy about the hunting situation in border unit and it'd be great to have some reassurance about recent activity. I have read somewhere on the forum of numbers to BP offices, however, in my search to find these numbers I have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any information on how to obtain knowledge of this topic? Will BP be able to tell me of this info if I disclose exact locations of where we'll be hunting? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
-
BP id bet. The best way to obtain info is to ask an agent in the field. Describe where you will be and he/she should be able to answer your questions. Thank you. I appreciate the information. I take it you are not currently in that location?

Accurizing a Weatherby Vanguard
Coues79 replied to Condor's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I was in the same exact situation as you; I've got a 25-06. The Vanguard triggers are horrible; absolutely horrible. I put a Timney Trigger on mine about two weeks ago and don't regret it one bit. They are awesome triggers and will enhance your groups altogether. They are really accurate rifles as is, but to do any long distance shooting with confidence, you really need a better trigger. Good luck. -
There is nothing more rewarding than what you are doing IMO. Very cool deal of you to do ;) Patience is key. Be as supportive and encouraging as you can if that buck just can't seem to be found in the rifle scope. Shrug off a miss and go find another one. The first experience is one of the most critical for the future experiences. Good luck to both of you and I hope your experiences are awesome together!

The first bear I ever shot came from 29. I didn't know what I had (meaning the quality of the bear), nor how big he actually was until measuring the skull; Ended up at 20 7/8". He was a big ol' boar. A 20" skull is a really big bear for around AZ. A lot of it depends on you though, what makes a trophy in your book?

Bump. Moultries and batteries are gone.
