Beautiful fish! I can't wait til it starts gettin hot on these White mountain lakes. Gonna be soon

Amen to this. It seems to be very common nowadays. Guys just don't have a clue anymore.
-
You're "almost" correct.

I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't buy energy drinks all day, I try to save as much money as I can to be able to afford spending as much time in the woods and providing for my family that I can. My priorities are on my family and hunting; I can still complain about the fees. Don't start knocking on peoples way of living just to pat yourself on the back. There's folks just like you that have the same priorities and put money away to do things just like you. We can still be upset at the increase.

About $12 per month through allstate

People will get used to the new "norm" and it'll last 7-10 years. Then they'll do it again. I guess in their eyes the economy must be kickin and they're customers are loaded with money. Last I checked I haven't gotten a cost of living raise for oh about 5 years.

The lowest randomized number that you are issued is what you will go with in the draw. No other numbers above the lowest will matter for your specific app.

Man I wouldn't say a cold front sucks!!! Especially one that has moisture with it. We need it way way bad. You'll just have to work a little bit harder for the stink pigs! Theyre still there. If not, take a thermos of hot chocolate and build a fire. Throw some summer sausage on a stick, warm it up and take a nice nap. That'll get your son hooked!

I tried to do this with my son when he was born. I put in with a paper app and actually had game and fish call to see if there was a mistake that I had made on the application (during the correction period). I told her no there's no mistake, I'm trying to build points for my son. I was purchasing a licence and everything on that app. She told me it didn't work that way and the child had to be at least 10 to do this. It was 5 or 6 years ago when this occurred.....

Not every single hunter that hunts whitetail is a member on this site. Not to mention that not every hunter wants to post pictures. I would imagine that there were good deer taken on the reservation this year. Tons less pressure and great whitetail country.

You've got to be up there close. I would strongly consider holding out if we don't get any more moisture from now til the draw deadline. Youve waited a long time for a seriously good tag. Bone dry conditions right now.....
-
If you carry one cartridge on you, you will make sure that it does the job..... get close to them and make it fun.
-
I would be careful applying for a cow tag as your 2nd choice if you have 6 BPs. If you're not in the bonus pass for 10 bull and you are for the cow hunts, and you put any one of those as a 2nd choice, you will not have a chance to draw your first choice.

500 tags will definitely increase the pressure this upcoming year and it will definitely be felt by those that draw the tag. At this moment, the winter we are having is going to play a factor on antler growth. Its really really dry right now and no moisture in sight in the near future. Big, huge rough country off the rim. Its a huge unit but it will definitely be hit hard; always is and with the tag increase it'll be worse, even in the country that you would expect to be alone in.... more and more people are going deeper and further to try and get away from people.

Hope it ends up being wrong but that's what it's looking like. Too bad because many places had a phenomenal monsoon.... would've been great to have a decent winter. If I had max points for elk I would be considering the lack of water and the affect on antler growth.

Not sure I want another agency "regulating" hunting opportunity...... especially the federal govt

1st Coues Buck and it is a "Dandy"

Nice looking buck. Congratulations. Looking at him closely, I think you scored him pretty close. His mains look great! A 103" coues deer is a great trophy to have on your wall. Way to go. -
Look at the bright side, in a couple years you can be guaranteed to harvest a nice young raghorn for good eating if you're lucky to beat the crowd to the bull. Makes it fun!
-
I don't see how that can be scientific at all or even observable.... let alone from one biologist or game warden. Unit one is huge and a lot of things have changed since the wallow fire. Patterns have changed and animals are in different places than used to be. The unit always has had big bulls and always will have big bulls. However, with G and F increasing tags the way that they do, the number of big bulls will be decreasing. Rather than manage for quality animals, these two units up here will be managed for quantity. Too bad IMO. At this point I would be more concerned with moisture getting to this area. Its not looking good so far up here. Without that, those big bulls you're after won't reach their potential.
-
Yes it is very real and will happen if that's what you choose and you are in the BP pass for your 2nd choice. This has happened to me before.

It wouldn't be the same wearing gloves when field dressing.... just like it wouldn't be gutting if I didn't nick my fingers a time or two and get my own blood on the meat.... J/K. Wearing tight fitting latex gloves is nice. I wouldn't wear anything loose at all. Makes it more dangerous.
-
Great looking buck. Congrats on a great trophy right there.
-
Correct. A very pretty bull too.

I don't know if there are any in the unit anymore. There wasn't a whole lot to begin with but I have not seen any for the past three years in the places I knew they were hanging.
