You know private land is just that, private land. A guy can do what he wants with it and a lot of times the public hunters gets shafted because of a gate... If this is a true attempt at gaining back some access to public lands then good job AZGFD. You can be pissed off or whatever but at least they're trying to gain some input. I've seen a lot of land get locked up in areas I have hunted and would love to continue to hunt. If I had to pay a small fee to access it then I would. Otherwise, I won't get to hunt it period. My hope is that the G and F will continue to work out access issues. If this is what its for, nice work game and fish.

I use woodhavens for turkey and absolutely love them. Haven't used them for elk though.

My 2015 archery coues takin at 110yrds

Man this is why I don't post pics and stories; Always idiots having to bring a guy down..... Isn't it about the buck anyway? Nice deer and congrats.... -
What? No one promoting the hoochie momma? Crazy! LoL.

I wouldn't put 8 points towards a 31 tag. Just IMO. Access is an issue in the north part and the southern part has been hunted very hard the last several years. A guy can draw that late tag every 3-4 years as it is too..... They'll always be a good buck or two in that unit. Why not 27/28 DEC whitetail? 33? Pretty fun hunt but huge country....
-
Wow! Should be a great hunt! Didn't this unit burn last year or the year before...? Might get the boom on antler growth from the great feed and nutrients. Awesome tag to have.... I will be in a unit with a muzzleloader during the same time.

I hunted NM and killed a bird who came in hot and in a hurry at 4. I personally love from 9AM through the rest of the day. Let those toms do their business in the morning and search for lonely hens the rest of the day.
-
No idea but he is gonna be a good bull. Crazy how fast they get those antlers out there growing.

I drew muzzy elk. I have an AZ and NM elk tag this year. Pretty exciting!
-
You can review your applications now and see if you have a license number associated with your application. If you do, you can now check your harvest reporting information and it will tell you what hunt it is for. I pulled an elk tag this year in AZ and NM. Pretty cool deal!
-
Thanks Red Sparky. It'd be my first elk hunt in NM. Sure love that states habitat. Good luck to you as well.

The G and F took down the ability to see harvest reports and the license number by your app review for each species yesterday. I also had a license number by my elk app review but was unable to verify it with the harvest report link due to it being taken off. Others were able to verify that if you had a license number associated with your app review, then you drew that license. The game and fish sent out a Facebook message indicating that some people were able to see their unofficial draw results..... So it appears that if you had the license number, you were successful in the draw. We will know on the 29th for sure. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear about the loss. Prayers sent. For the backdoor, it is down now. I had a license number by my app review for my elk application, and, it is gone now. Hopefully this method of finding out is accurate and will hold true with the results when they are posted.

I was in NM this morning along with what seemed like hundreds of others and it was dead! Saw a group of 5 Jakes that were non responsive. Did not hear a gobble. Not sure if the people or weather have it different....

I've taken quite a few elk shooting 150 grn corelokt out of my 7 mag. My gun seems to like them well. If you're getting out there in distance, 500+ yds you may start thinking about developing a round with more precise ammo rather than mess with factory loads with the tolerances that they have.... I think a lot of guys on here develop loads.

I live up here and fish Big Lake as often as I can. I am completely honest with you in that is has not turned on yet and has not produced a consistent bite yet. Morning, mid-day, evening..... it just hasn't turned on. I guess maybe you could find a hot-spot but might be tough fishing. Crescent did not have a kill. Have fun anyways; it is a beautiful place up here.

I would sell it with the glasses but I honestly tried to delete it and couldn't figure out how. -
Swarovski 15x56 NEU Package; Package includes the following… $1500- Swarovski 15x56 NEU (Dark Green Model) $35- Jim White Doubler $125- Nikon 440 Rangefinder $50-Vortex ProGT Tripod -I would rate the glasses at a 9.5/10. The pictures have picked up dust on the lenses; they are in good condition. -Jim White doubler is in good condition -Nikon 440 Rangefinder is in optically perfect condition. Does show signs of use. I actually love this little rangefinder. Ranges very quickly all the time. Furthest reading has been 450 yds. -Tripod shows signs of use and is evident in the pictures. Very sturdy tripod. I am 5'10" and can stand to glass with these Prefer not to ship glasses but will ship other items +$5 for shipping.

Decent bulls in the unit if you work very very hard to locate them. The muzzleloader hunt tends to hammer most of the bigger bulls in the unit. It is about like 22 North is now, with smaller, young bulls being the norm. Anyways, water is a good bet. It'd be real good to have someone spotting for you if you're going to spot and stalk. I always liked to NE part of the unit but it has become very very popular with the late rifle hunt. Good luck. You're in some pretty country anyways.

Anyone use this? Good price and it uses AA batteries. Be a lot easier on the wallet if they get stolen... Anyways this cam has me intrigued. Reviews show most folks have good things to say about them. Wondering if anyone here uses them. Thanks

Limited opportunity up here. Gonna be a tough one.

Don't want to hijack your thread at all but those bolt action crickets are really nice youth guns. I understand how he could get frustrated but also consider it teaches them how to aim small and miss small too only having one shot..... Might teach good habits for later in life.
