    LOST: Binoculars in 36B, 10-26-15

Pretty sure they've been pick up by another hunter. We saw a white Ford F250 behind us,we noticed they had fallen out when we got back to camp.

    Is this legal?!?

Legal but probably the smallest I've seen. I'm guessing he needed a spotting scope at archery range to see those hooks.
  5. My PACT is identical to my RCBS other than the color. Had the R for many years and finally had to replace it. Purchased a PACT after some buds vouched for it. It's the same thing only Grey in color. Works like a champ.

    Help with .270 Reload

Im pretty sure the 130 grain is the preferred bullet for the 270, at least that's what I've always been told and that's the bullet 80% of factory ammo is sold with. I see you want 1000 ft. pounds of energy at the Hail Mary ranges but I know by experience the 130 will drop a big Muley at over 500 without issues. I see you use the 4350 as I do as well (53 grs. 3000 fps.), My dad always used IMR 4320 (50 grs) 3000 fps. I reload the Nosler Ballistic Tips and the Sierra Game Kings in 130 gr. Winchester large rifle primer and seated just off the landings. Remember, the reloading books are all very different, I have some that my dad gave me from the 70s and 80s. Their max loads are not even listed anymore. You've got to wonder how a Sierra book and a Hodgdon book will show how to obtain 3000 fps with the same powder and bullet but have two different powder amounts?
  7. Great bullet, I shoot em out of my 7mm Mag. 150 gr. 3100fps. 63 grains of IMR4350, really tight groups. I've always had an exit hole the size of a nickel. Haven't shot an a Elk with them though, I believe that's were people say there may be issues.
  8. We made a cool water pump for camp. I had an extra water pump out of a motor home, you wire it up for your 7 round plug on the bumper. Use clear tubing to insert into a five gallon bottle and pump out water however needed, the five gallon jug sits on the tailgate next to the pump, you can add water to your camper, rinse a deer off, shower or whatever.

    Rifle scope question!

Vortex Viper HS LR Long Range FFP 6-24x50mm I think I'd have to pull the trigger on this guy, not a huge fan of the 50mm look but that's probably just me. I think she's going for around 9 bills.

    Rifle scope question!

It's just like anything else, you get what you pay for. My first rifle had a Redfield 3x9 w/40mm objective. Thought it was just fine until I looked through my hunting buddy's Z5. I really kind of thought he was wasting his money until I had a few hunts under my belt and couldn't see squat at low light conditions. Glassed up one of the nicest bucks that I have ever seen at 500+ yards , but had trouble finding him in the Redfield. I could see him walk over the skyline after I tried to line up for five minutes. I was sick,,,,, that huge reticle at 9 power wasn't working out. That's when I saw the light. Purchased a Leupold VXIII 6.5 x 20 w/40mm Fine Duplex, it has the elevation turret only. Huge difference, no problems at 500 + anymore. Get what you can afford and won't get you divorced. Having great glass really changes your game. I never had an issue with light with my 40mm Leupold, shot several deer deer at first light. I have 50 mm Liecas and 60mm Doctors. There may be a slight difference seeing a bit earlier with the Doctors but not much. Not a fan on how the 50mm look on a rifle. A fine reticle is a plus, don't go too fine because it's hard to see at low light.

New to the site- my back story to hunting

When my dad passed he left me his Pre 64 Model 70 in 270. Felt like my first deer again when I took a nice 3x3 with it. Good luck and hope you score with your dads rifle. Haven't hunted that unit so I can't help there.

Trying to run someone over with a car is not unarmed,,,,,, unfortunate that a child was exposed to that.
