Went to a new unit and found 74 in 6 days between my parents and myself. I found 65 lol But my mom found her first horns ever and what's find! 370+ browns. Can't wait to get back in here for another 7 days with my brother.

Student arrested for wearing NRA shirt

My son was suspended for talking about going rabbit hunting with me and shooting rabbits with my AR-15! He was promptly reinstated after I got through with the principle and school board on the issue! Things like this are happening all over this country, and quite honestly I'm starting to feel a little ashamed if this once great country! -
Thanks for the replies! It was def a great time! Heading back in there first of may with my brother, hopefully we'll double that seeing as how we drank more beer and just enjoyed the camping than really shed hunting this trip. Non-typ I didn't get a pic of my dog, but their both worthless at shed hunting! They both get lost in the sagebrush! But great camp dogs lol

All the new diesels, except the ram with standard tranny, are putting out 800 ft lbs of torque these days. -
Lol well I guess that's the way it works! I did have a ton of grief given to us by the g&f in unit 9 shed hunting last year when this all came into effect. The forest service guy(that I've seen up there for the last 20 years) was cool about us camping in our usual spot. But it was enough that I won't be back to the kiabab national forest anytime soon! I was a little more disappointed with the lack of following the "closed roads" rule on the coconino compared to the kiabab nat forest.

I'll give her a 9 lol That's a huge shed! The other sides close by! Ill say around 175" horn

This is what I was told by a forest service official, "we won't write you a ticket, but game and fish will, no excuses" on camping off the roads a ways. We were camped about a hundred yards off the main road in a well established camping spot. I knew I was asking for a ticket, but with 5 little kids and 2 little dogs. I was going to fight it tooth and nail. Never saw a g&f so all worked out this time.

Thanks for yhe replies! That does look like exactly what I'm looking for. How are the shoot thru windows with expandables? Are they removable? Can't find anything about that surprisingly.

For what it's worth, I'm a die hard ford guy. I just bought the brand new ram 2500 6.7 diesel. I test drove the heck out of all 3 and they all have the same power feel and specs were close. But ford really made me feel let down with the lack of upgrades to their trucks, 2012 looked almost identical to my 06. And the friends that own the new power stroke really didn't "love" anything about them. The gmc's were nice but with the new rigid frames, you can't keep your tires on the ground when the truck gets a little twisted up off roading. I've had to rescue my buddy 3 times from getting stuck in little washes. Huge fail IMO for gmc. The 2009+ rams are power houses with the automatic, the jake brake built in is amazing when towing my big camper and boat, I have yet to brake coming down a hill at any speed. It pulls ever hill I've hit at any speed I want and the mileage is quite a bit better than my 06 ford when towing, and about the same empty. The interior on my new longhorn is the nicest I've ever seen in a truck as well. Those are the deciding factors that put me into the new ram. Good luck on finding a new truck! -
I drew a unit 31 tag. Congrats on pulling some good tags there!
-
Lucked out finally, drew my fist choice archery antelope(only took 16 years) and a 34 rifle deer tag with my dad, nephew and brother. Going to be a great year for us here.

I have both pairs of these optics. The minox's are great glass for the money. I actually liked them better than the kiabab's. but there is absolutely no comparison to the swaro 12's. the swaro's are just flat out amazing glass. But if cost is a factor and there is no way you can afford the swaro's, the minox are a great piece of glass, but there not swarovski quality.

Great show AZwest!!! And congrats on a great buck! -
I have my favorite unit, I just think it's kind of odd I've never heard of any one standing out above the rest in couse hunting.
-
So is there one certain couse unit that sits far above the rest? Like a strip tag for mulies.
-
Looking for a good deal on some new swaro's.

I just recently purchased a Weatherby mark V chambered in 300 wby, im going to top it with a Vortex viper hs with a cds setup from kenton industries and then a vias brake. My question is is this a little too much gun for my coues hunt this year? I'm really excited about both the gun and the hunt so id like to try it out asap
-
I'm sure glad to hear quite a few of you hunt with similar calibers! A good buddy of mine was kind of shocked saying I'd dang near destroy a coues with this gun lol. Just got me thinking is all At almost 4 bucks a round I'm thinking I'll keep the shot count low
-
I havent gotten into reloading yet, But have been getting the itch. Well i bought this gun for an elk rifle, but now im chomping at the bit to get it done! Forgot how exciting a new rifle is lol.

Looking for help with a GREAT problem
Hornhunter247 replied to mtn-memories's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I really don't see a problem here, the biggest bulls in 6a are right in that coues country!!! I've hunted and guided in that unit for quite a few years and have never hunted elk around a pine tree! Good luck this year! -
Amanda thanks for the email you sent letting us know! Just another reason why I feel this is the best hunting forum I've ever been on! Thank you!
-
Thanks Tyler, been trying to draw a decent wt tag for years. Always seem to get my back up muley hunt, but not this year! Lol
-
Drew my 6/8 December coues tag!!!! Thanks to my friends for waking me up way to early to get my info! Glad I know now haha
