Any ideas on what this is? Almost looks like a very small bear cub, but I am almost certain I would have got another picture of it, or at least one of momma bear. My camera is set on the 3 shot bursts, which are 3 seconds apart. This picture is the middle picture of the three. It's not there on the first or last picture. Kind of wierd.

Both editing jobs are good ones! For sure a little bear. I guess momma bear just momma bear just wasn't quite ready when she should have been!!

The dates are correct and those rocks are small. It looks like a bear to me, but that would make it a very small cub. Cubs this time of year should be 80-90 pounds or so, but this bear can't be more than 25-30 pounds. Those rocks are small. Also the shadow of the tree is the tree I have my camera on and it's only about 8 inches across or so. Maybe I will get lucky and it will come back and give me another pic.

Good stuff right there!!

WT Buck Water Use and Summer Activity
BML replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I killed a 97 inch buck last year sitting water. I had over 30 hours total in a blind over 4 days. I averaged one deer every 10 hours! The key is pre scouting. I had close to 100 hours scouting this area before the hunt started so I knew there were deer in the area. Like Gino said, though, it was all luck after that. I was willing to shoot the very first legal buck I saw since I had not yet shot any deer in AZ with my bow. Lucky for me, the first one that came in was a "no brainer" and that was that. Spend the time in your blind and you will have that opportunity. -
Selling my truck. 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab 6.7L Diesel 41,000 Miles KBB and NADA both have this truck listed at $33,800 for private party resale. I am asking $31,000. The truck will need tires soon. The back seat needs a shampoo cleaning. My daughter spilled some juice back there. Kids!! haha It is also missing one of the center caps for the passenger rear wheel. You can pick them up for around $30 on ebay. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with this truck. Divorce forces me to sell it. Call or email with any questions at all. Thanks. lanoue25@yahoo.com 928-533-8825

I am working on that as we speak!! I still have my spring bear tag until the end of the month. If that doesn't work out, I have spent a ton of time so far this summer in another unit scouting bears and coues. Hopefully this will be my year for a big bruin!!!

Got my mount from last year's archery hunt back this past weekend. I had been waiting to get him back so I could finally move all my mounts and put them together in one place. Here's a few pics of the deer. Here's one of the new wall. I still have to add my buffalo and my full body fox mount when I get that done.
-
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully this year I can get another wall hanger to keep him company!
-
Hey Daniel. Give me a call when you get a chance. I lost your number. I sent you a PM but I'm not sure it went through. The server kept dropping me. Thanks.
-
thanks Dug. I actually have 20+ feet of completely empty wall space to the right of my deer, so it's going to take a lot more than my buffalo to fill that wall!

I haven't done one yet, but this is the exact reason I want to do a backpack hunt!! Hopefully my first trip will come soon.

Interested as well. My brother has been looking for one like this for a while. I would also like to see some interior pics and please put me in line behind Casey. Thanks! -
Sorry to hear that. I am surprised more of them aren't stolen. I have been checking my cameras for a month or so and have run across several other cameras that are just sitting there waiting to be stolen. No locks, cables or anything. One of them was strapped to a tree, then the next week to a rock on the ground, and then last weekend it was strapped to a make shift pile of sticks acting like a tripod. I left it alone, but I doubt it will stay on that tank for long.

Struck out 8 of his last 9 as well. What a stud and what an entrance to the big leagues!! Pretty safe to say that if he stays healthy his minor league days are over!!

So the much anticipated arrival of Stephen Strasburg happens tomorrow and today the Nats draft Bryce Harper! I know two guys alone probably won't bring the Nats out of the cellar, but at least there is finally some excitement associated with that team.
-
I'm no Nationals fan but you better believe I am watching tomorrow's game! I am very curious as to if this kid can really dominate hitters in the big show like he has so far everywhere else.

I've done it! I'm a ship jumper!!

Hey Gino, While you are finished sighting in that pretty new bow, you might want to work a little on that beer belly of yours!! hahaha -
I have a buddy looking for a boat for the rim lakes. Please PM me your contact info and I will forward it on to him. Thanks!

Hey you old farts talkin' about me?? haha I have exchanged a couple PM's with Darren on his hunt. He is in for a treat for sure. I had a blast last year and wish I could do it again some day. I guess I can, but just not here in AZ!

Dave Stepp at Mile High Archery up here in Prescott Valley makes great strings. Not sure if you ever get up here though. He does all my work and my dad even brings his stuff up here from the valley for him to do as well.

Put me next in line if it doesn't sell. Thank you.

So does the unit in your area open in August? If not, do you think those bears will still be there when the unit does finally open? Good luck hunting that canyon. Let us know how you do when the time comes.
-
The bears are all there before the hunt opens in this particular unit. By the time the hunt opens in October, the acorns are gone and so are the bears. Unfortunate too, because I have been trying to kill a bear for years now and this canyon is the only place I have been able to find them where it's feasible to hunt them without dogs. I'm not a very good bear hunter!! lol
