Most likely going to be rifle. It is open to both. I actually haven't done any hunting lately. I just got back from Afghanistan. So I am trying to get back into the swing of things for this years seasons.

If you don't mind me asking what do you use your labs for? Hunting or just house dogs?

Yeah I am tracking the area open. I donloaded the OTC Elk brochure and it has a small map of the area. Quite a bit of ground available.

So in retrospect looking at Unit 28 it really isn't all that far away from me. It seems Clifton is about 2 1/2 hours which isn't too bad. So how about that unit 28?

I just don't want to get in too far over my head as a first timer. I have been in AZ since 2012 but spent half of the time in Afghanistan so really only a year there. Definitely looking forward to the challenge and even more so the meat.

They do have 28 open it is just a little more of a drive for me. Maybe I need to start looking at that as an option.

Is there anyone that plans on doing the OTC hunt in either of these units that might want to team up?

Well I am down at Fort Huachuca so it looks like I will be looking for either 32 or 31.

I was thinking about trying one of these tags too. Just not sure if it will be worth it or not. I am not after a trophy but instead some good meat for the freezer. Only issue is that I am down in Fort Huachuca. I have heard mixed reviews on how they are horrible and how they are a great opportunity.

Hey yall just got word that I am going to be at good old Fort Huachuca for another two years. So I figured I would look on here and see if anyone in the area would be interested in a huntin buddy. I will be putting in for the Whitetail Tag on post and possibly an Elk tag depending on the research I can get done and if I can find a partner. Will also be looking to do waterfowl, upland, and doves

Definitely open to some pointers. Last year I got to Arizona a little late for the draw and seen some decent bucks on post and some muleys with some size as well. This year I missed it due to being in Afghanistan. So I am definitely excited about this coming fall. Just love to hunt and fish. Was surprised to find some duck hunting down this way too last year.
