Well we finished the hunt a week ago this morning and it was just a super fun hunt! The bull we got was just the icing on the cake. We saw bulls just about every time we went out and many times they were being pushed because of so many tags given out for that hunt, but whatever. As we were nearing the end of my extra help on the hunt I decided to take the bull that I got since I knew that after that day I would have to do all of the packing myself. Here is just a fun no so serious video of when it all went down.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEdL1leglGg Hope you Enjoy!

southernxpress replied to southernxpress's topic in Classified Ads
Rifle is sold thanks Jim and Ryan! -
After some horse trading I decided to sell this rifle too. I havent had it very long as was told it shoots in the half MOA range.. I shot it just a couple times w some random ammo yesterday and I got a 5/8" group w it not trying very hard, only tried the one load and all while sighting it in. The trigger is already adjusted to 2# and the rifle is in very good condition was told it has a couple hundred rounds or so down the barrel. Comes with the HS Precision stock, a little bit of brass and ammo, whatever is left in the pouch. 20" fluted barrel. $850 and you are ready to go! Great little rifle! Best way to get a hold of me is txt but if u want call me and leave a message and ill call u back. Todd 602-677-3791

Sako Forester L579 .243 restoration
southernxpress replied to Cruiser.308's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
The pitting makes it tough. It could be sanded down past the pits and then blued but that will likely take some of the lettering with it too... or something you could do at home would be to get some of the metal epoxies and fill the pits and then use like duracoat or cerakote to paint it. -

**Sold** Remington 700 LTR w Nightforce scope or 6.5 Creedmoor
southernxpress posted a topic in Classified Ads
So I just recently picked this rifle up and haven't decided what I want to do with it yet but I figured I would see if anyone else is interested in it as a package deal. Its a Remington 700 in .308 with all sorts of upgrades. Its is the LTR which is the 20" heavier barrel w the three flutes. It has the HS Precision stock. Trigger was upgraded to Timney, it has both Badger rings and rail. The follower has been upgraded to the Score High Gunsmithing follower. It comes w the Harris bipod and the Accu-Sport Monopod in the rear as well as the padded cheek piece w a little bit of ammo. All of this topped of w the Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 w the sunshade. This model doesnt have the zerostop and I need to do a little looking to figure out which reticle it is. The gun is in very good condtion has very little filed use. I havent had it long enough to shoot, but I was told it shoots very well in the 1/2 MOA range. Price for complete package is $2200 If you dont want a .308 I have another rifle all custom w a McMillan A3 styled stock built in 6.5 Creedmoor that is an absolute shooter that I could part with instead. Best way to reach me is via txt but if u want to call leave a message and ill call you back Todd 602-677-3791 -
The Accu-shot monopod is a great solid attchment for a steady shot. This one has seen minimal use and in good condition. If you are not familiar with these google Accu-shot and you will see even more about them. $75 Txt or call Todd 602-677-3791

**Sold** Remington 700 LTR w Nightforce scope or 6.5 Creedmoor
southernxpress replied to southernxpress's topic in Classified Ads
Thanks, couple people have asked why I would sell the Creed when I know how well it shoots. .. I guess guys I like the thrill of something new. . A new project which is always a bit of a gamble. Forgot to mention to the the trigger work is all done of the Creed too, it's a nice 1.5 pounds! The trigger shoe has been modified too. This is a great midrange gun that with the short barrel doesnt get hung up on every branch when in your pack and with the Win760 powder I was able to get velocities that were close to say H4350 wa more normal barrel length. -
New life to an old rifle
southernxpress replied to southernxpress's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Ohh the options are endless Vowell. I like the BC's you can get in the 6.5's or even the 6mm's for like a medium sized gun if you are going to buy a new barrel. -
I dont know if I am old enough for R rated movies but I think old enough to hunt squirrel...

**Sold** Remington 700 LTR w Nightforce scope or 6.5 Creedmoor
southernxpress replied to southernxpress's topic in Classified Ads
So I had a few people ask about the Creedmoor too. (Sorry dont know why the target pics got turned sideways) Anyways all the action work has been done has a Shillen 18" custom contoured barrel, the barrel is .935" at the muzzle (its similar to a palma styled contour), oversized bolt knob, muzzle is threaded w custom thread protector, I would sale it w the Atlas Bipod, rings and bases, but NOT the scope. Stock is bedded too. It didn't seem to matter what powder I ran down it there almost always seemed to b a load that worked! All targets are at 100 yards. I guess if I sell this one it would b $1300, the work is done and its a shooter! -

A couple of pictures from during the build. It took a few thousandths to get a complete clean up on the action face. Man that's a long thread tenon on those 788's but it ended up being a nice fit between action and barrel. -

New life to an old rifle
southernxpress replied to southernxpress's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
well no new pictures this time, but I shot it a little yesterday. Got if over the chronograph with the fire form load (3068fps). I was able to sneak up on this rock at 966 yards... pulled out my calculator, wind meter and things and dialed up... first shot was a solid hit and so was shot #2 and then #3 I got cocky and pulled it, but still on target (about a basket ball sized rock). So I am excited to get my real loads figured out as I only have a few more pieces to fire form. Once all fire formed I will anneal and shave a little off the necks too and get to playing again. -
