Mike, Get on the 60 and head east until you get to Globe. There you'll turn off head south and east on US 70 another 70 or so miles. Should put you in Safford. If you hit the NM state line, you gone to far....

I'll take the scope. PM on the way..

I have three recovered slugs in my collection. Left: 145gr 7mm Speer Grand Slam (7mm Rem Mag) recovered just under the skin from the back of the ham on a coues deer. (bullet entered opposite front shoulder.) Center; 165gr .308 Nosler BT (300 Win mag) recovered form the stomach cavity of a Texas feral hog (Bullet entered front shoulder) Right: 9mm jacketed bullet that went through my roof and into my bedroom on New year's eve '02. My girlfriend and i were on the bed at the time... scared the heck out of us! We've moved out of town since then!

Thanks for the heads-up on that, Bobbyo. I reckon I could make a few phone calls to the manufacturer and determine equivilancies between 777 powder and pellets. The pellets seemed to go up a couple of bucks each time I purchased them over the last few years.

I only tried two different bullets when working up a load for my muzzleloader. I settled on a 285 gr Barnes Expander MZ over 100 Gr of 777. In my muzzleloader, they were much more accurate than the powerbelts i tried. Killed a small bull elk in '07 with that particular combo. 125 yards, broadside shot through both lungs, breaking a couple of ribs on the way out. The elk stumbled about 10 yards and died right there.

Winchester model 70 caliber 30 06 into something else
Couesdeer replied to seek100plus's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Here's an idea.... Go with a 25-06, 25-06 imp., or maybe even a .25 Gibbs. (my fondness for quarter-bores showing a bit here). However, keep the original barrel and stock after you have your custom built. If sentiment gets to you down the road, you can always revert it back into Grampa's old '06 with a quick trip to the gunsmith. Oh yeah, to answer your original question, the easiest switch in chamberings for your rifle would be anything based on the 30-06 case.. (6mm-06, 25-06, 6.5-06, .270, 280... ackley improved versions of all of these exist... and so on.) -
Well the time has come, I will have my very own...

Swarovski 15x56 SLC Binoculars $1,350.00
Couesdeer replied to SirShagalott's topic in Classified Ads
Of all the times to be broke..... This is the best price I've seen on used Swaro 15s in a long time. Someone's gonna be getting a deal. -
Like others have already posted.... A 120 Gr. partition out of your 25-06 will kill an elk just fine. I've seen the same combo work on elk from ranges of 75-300+ yards.

Weaver Grand Slam 4.5-14X40 AO, Matte, dual-X reticle. #800475 Perfect glass, very slight ring maks. Small ding on the eyepeice bell. Does not affect function of the scope at all, but it is there (1/4 inch). $250 + $10 if shipping is needed.

Good for you!... Not only dropping the lbs, but for your generosity as well! May you be blessed with successful hunts throughout 2010!

Someone needs to jump on that 514.... I can't think of a better starter .22 for a beginning hunter!

This may be a longshot, but here goes: I bought four tickets to Sunday's game against the Packers and only need three. While it would be nice to have the empty seat next to me, it would be better if i could recoup some of the costs. Section 137, row 32, seat 13 the ticket's face price is $85 and that's what I'd like to get for it. (after convenience fees and whatnot, my actual cost for the ticket was just over $100) If you're in the Tucson area, I'll even give you a ride to and from the game. If not, We can meet at the game.... Oh yeah, there's a catch. We'll be sitting with my wife and father-in-law... They're huge packer fans... sigh..

7mm remington ultra mag
Couesdeer replied to James Gleave's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thank you so much for the information. I'll give the 7828 a shot..... Already been seating bullets .010 off the lands and using 215Ms. I've never used a concentricity gauge before. I'll look into one... -
7mm remington ultra mag
Couesdeer replied to James Gleave's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Most of my pre-season shooting consists of blowing up milk jugs filled with water at various distances. However since this year was my first time messing with elevation turrets instead of holdover, I did shoot this group at 495 yards. (Prone off a bipod and a rolled-up towel under the buttstock) I didn't put a tape measure to it, but I'd reckon its somewhere between 5 and 6 inches.... One of my buddies has abandoned the 140 grain bullets in favor of heavier Berger offerings with a greater BC.... I just have so darn many 140s..... -

I like my 7RUM.... Factory 700 Sendero. With moly'd 140 gr Nosler BTs and a heap of Re25, I'm getting 3665 fps. Moly'd 140 gr. Barnes TSX give me 3600 even. (My rifle really likes the ballistic tips...) Can't comment on barrel life as I'm only approaching 400 rounds through this tube and everything's fine so far.
