Your probably right on Not having to put up all that cash up front. Few other ideas that come to mind. More hunting shows on tv about Arizona hunting and it seems a monster is almost always killed. Not sure if Lake Mary road is open or not but you can take that road into Morman Lake. The 209 road that surrounds Morman lake is a paved road with areas that you can pull off and set up camp, if its open. Probably gonna be a little muddy but that is going to be your best bet of seeing snow. Their wont be much snow around Stoneman Lake rd unless it snows a few days before you head north.

I got the minox md50 I wanted to be able to put it in my backpack and not be to heavy or to large. I used it on two hunting trips and looking at elk in the middle of morman lake during the summer. No problems at all. I am happy with this purchase.
