I honestly can't remember the last time it was this green up here.

It's been a really crazy 4 months for me. Married May 25th and on Friday we close on our first house together to raise our own family, full of hunters. Going to be lots of stuffed animals moving to Jomax and the I-17. I was just wondering if I have any fellow cwt members close by.

Ty totally forgot about that

Better clear some room on the wall for that one, congrats.

You care more about this on your hip than a cell phone in your pocket.

Before deer season and no work is getting done. My bags are packed, clothing scent locked, check my backpack 5 times. Fresh batteries and fresh broad heads, I'm ready to get to Gods country. Good luck to all tomorrow. I will be chasing elk OTC in the am with my little brother then trying to stick a deer in his bed, on the way back.

Sir don't take this the wrong way but I have been hunting in other units and 6a holds its own. Those units that are managed for trophy bulls should have 380-400 class bulls all over. With 6a in the last 5 to 10 years I have seen a decrease in the quality of bulls, I feel due to the increase number of tags but their are still some trophy class bulls that wander 6a. To be honest a trophy is in the eye of the beholder the spike I killed last year will be my favorite trophy. Good luck to all in every unit, for every season, for every animal possible.

Antmo23 I take it you are a liver and onions guy like my grandpa was.

What big browns said about getting the elk in the right position to gut or use the gutless method is the key when by yourself. Use rope to tie off legs to near by trees but after using the gutless method last year I won't be gutting an elk ever again. Super easy and we didn't really know what we were doing. I watched a few you tube videos and was good to go.

Devil Diver Down p.s. 6ANut, is your family looking to adopt a middle aged hunter? They sure do kill some nice bulls and a whole bunch of them! Seems like we are of the similar age might be hard to share. Lol, some of my buddies have jumped on board, of this elk killing train. The olders guys I hunt with, like guys like us, when they get an elk down they know it will just cost them a bar tab, a 30 pack of Coors Light, and a fresh backstrap steak for dinner.

Solo hunting elk is the real deal especially when you get one down. Get the cape off asap and get the meat hung. Dont count on other to help because they will be hunting as well. Then write a post in cwt about needing help and I will split the gas with JLW and help if available. I love getting bloody especially when its not mine.

Good luck Matt. I'm jealous of all that have elk tags this year.
-
Good luck to all I will be out on Friday as well with my little brother. Meet you at the lone pine Friday night?
