This whole thing is a huge waste of our hard earned tax payers money, and should have never even gone to the grand jury.

Let me be the 100th to say I love the new forum section. Little back ground, I am by no means a expert when it comes to lifting weights but I played baseball for five years in college and worked out with many different ideas, methods etc of how to get Jacked from a variety of strength coaches. Three things I have translated into hunting shape are: 1 It is a passion just like hunting. If you are not into it you won't do it, period. Now I am not saying you need to be a gym rat but while you are watching sportscenter during commercials bust out a few sets of abs or push up, Take the dog for a walk, calf raises in the shower, wear your hunting backpack around your house, fill some milk jugs with water and do some curls, get a nice run in etc... You need to be sore the next day or you are not doing enough reps or running long enough. Seems like the hardest part of getting into shape is starting. Start small and work towards your real main goal, hauling the animal you harvested off the mountain on your last day of the hunt, with the same energy as you had day one. 2 You are what u eat.... A simple change in diet is all it takes. Take a look at what you eat for a few days find what give you the most fat/ calories and change it. For most of us guys it is beer and fried food or fast food with lots of extras like starches loaded with butter/ sour cream/ or everyone's favorite bacon. When it comes to a diet, fast food is a gun grabbing democrat, stay away. 3. Stretching/ yoga. It's not getting any easier putting those shoes on. If you can do yoga, do it. It will give you added flexibility mixed with a slight workout and usually you have about 10 plus girls in yoga pants to keep you motivated. Stretching daily is a must, I have bad lower back issues but stretching in the am/pm keeps me flexible and less bad back days. I have a bunch of old stretching or small weight workouts from baseball I can send in an email and willing to answer any or all questions but google answers all.

Enjoy Gods country to its fullest, its okay to go home empty handed, you can't eat all the wonderful memories u will have. I take a video each day of my hunt usually with my best hunting buddy about something from the day or an experience we had together. Also take pictures, az does have the best sunrises and sunsets, you can take 20 seconds away from your glass to enjoy what God gave us. Enjoy your hunt, I am not even hunting and I am having trouble sleeping at night, I feel like my old lab and the duck/quail guns are by the door.

My uncle called me last night and asked if I could find him a place to rent a 4 person Rhino or Polaris around Flagstaff for the late rifle hunt. Anyone have any past experience any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanksgiving day routine, "traditions", and meals on the late hunt?
6ANut replied to daverp's topic in Elk Hunting
Great post first of all. We have to always please the wives so we have turkey day at one pm and it pretty much is a power hour of turkey eating. Then we race to the cabins where the heater is on and the jack Daniels is flowing. I personaly am like a kid the night before Xmas and usually try to fall asleep first. My grandpa always made fried chicken and mash potatoes every first day of the hunt so after his passing we have continued that tradtion. One of my uncles from California always makes a blackened bluefin tuna and macadamia crusted mahi mahi that is outa this world good. With the first elk down its backstraps for dinner except if it's the first night. -
Text me more info about that .17 hmr I think I want it

Hi, my CWT family. I am expecting my first baby in a little over a month. We are having a little girl Bailey Rose Lane and I couldn't be any more excited. My question to you all is, other than sharpening the knifes and cleaning the guns, what words of advice can you give me in being a parent/ father of a girl, etc? In my mind the best people in the world are hunters, due to the respect they have for not only their elders but also for mother nature. So if you wouldn't mind sharing a small piece of your experiences in parenting, so I can try my best to raise another proud hunter. I really want her to grow up liking the outdoors and have already gotten a backpack that she can sit in while I am walking around the woods. Thanks for your time Brian

Thanks for sharing your story. What a monster dead head and looks like that "limited opportunity" hunt is more like shooting elk in a barrel. Way to do your homework and know where the few elk are located. Way to get it done.

Toad and some great mass

Layers are the best but I would be more worried about your boots getting wet than your pants.

Looking to rent a cabin up north for a few days next month
6ANut replied to PRDATR's topic in The Campfire
Pm me dates etc and we could open up our cabin for you, if we are not hunting. Two bedrooms and a few pull out beds no laundry or dishwasher a real cabin. -
