Wow is all I can say. For only three days of hunting I couldn't have had a better time. We had two vets staying at the cabin and it was an honor to meet and hunt with them. Even Tom Wagner made an appearance for a day. We were in bulls big big bulls everyday. They weren't yet ready to rumble but we still had our chances. We are going to head out again this weekend so to say I'm excited and can't work is an understatement. I got to meet some great people on this hunt and look forward to future hunts with all of them. I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I usually do, guess that's what happens when you are in elk all hunt long.

I had the privilege to hunt with two wounded Vets through the Hunt For Hero’s program in Arizona. Erich and Ethan had been on a few other Hunt For Hero’s hunts but they never expected the joy’s that were about to happen over the next 3 days. We were going to chase Bugling Bull Elk with Bow in the Cool Pines around Munds Park, Arizona. Everyone arrived on Thursday and were eager to hunt in the morning. We would be going to one of my Honey Holes and all alarms were set for 3:30 am. After a great meal and some good conversations, we all were ready for opening morning. Within an hour of sun-up on Friday we found a bull that was bugling. After about a mile of following his majestic sound, we finally caught up with him. We were able to get within 30 yards of this HUGE bull and his 10 cows but no shot was presented. Everyone’s blood was pumping but my thoughts were, Just One Bull….. That evening I wanted to check out another Honey Hole. As we arrived into the area before we could even park the truck we were greeted with Bulls Bugling. We would end up hunting in “Elk Paradise” for the rest of the hunt. That night we were able to get into a few smaller bulls and cows but the 10 plus Bull elk that were bugling were only seen at a distance. We knew exactly where we were hunting in the morning. Saturday morning couldn’t come fast enough. At 4:30 am when we parked the truck, we were yet again greeted by the beautiful sounds of bugling elk. I mean 360 degrees of chaos, elk were everywhere. Both hunters had opportunities at multiple Bull elk but yet again a shot didn’t present itself. On the evening hunt, we had a bull come into shooting distance but again no proper shot was given. We just watched as this massive bull elk ripped a huge bugle right at us and slowly walked away. One vet told me Saturday night, that this day would go down as one of his top 10 favorite days ever. I was at a loss for words. On Sunday it was back to Elk Paradise. We all walked into the hunting area at dark and were surrounded by elk as the sun slowly came up. We would eventually have a nice bull offer a shot at 30 yards but the Ethan missed. Ethan told me that he has never shook( Bull Fever) so bad in his life. When the sunset on Sunday we all looked at each other with smiles. We might not have harvested an elk but the friendships and memories that were made will last a lifetime. To Be Continued………….. It's on this weekend.

Be ready for guides to tell their clients to shoot over you, place is a shoot show opening morning. Second day away from all the crowds was enjoyable. -
