Great pics guys, there are some animals being posted on this thread that are making me drool especially that mountain goat, and big horns.[attachme t=2593:deer_2006.jpg] These pics just make me remember how glad and lucky I am to live in a state with such great hunting diversity. All three of these were in the last year. -
I was fortunate enough to get my first lion on thursday morning with the help of the DREAM TEAM! Thanks alot guys for all your help, and thank you especially to "BLACK DEATH" aka hap.

Maybe before that happens G&F can just go ahead and authorize 2000 permits for each area in the Kaibab In order to bring down the huge numbers of deer in that area.Ha ha

I also totally agree with what you are saying about G&F and the rediculous amount of tags in these units. Sure seems like a great way to make a bunch of $$$$$$.

Boy I guess I'm the only one who likes the Swaro doubler. I used it for the first time this year and found it to be very useful. I actually used it on the buck I killed this year, it made me actually go after the deer because when just looking through my 15's it didn't look that big but when i used the doubler it made me get up and get after it. All this talk about the tripler and how much better it is really has me curious to see what it is all about. Josh

Great looking mount! Do you hava any pics from other angles?

Man the pics are great it brings back many great memories of being on the Hoholitna river in Alaska. I use to go every year for the month of August caribou hunting and fishing. Hard to beat salmon that a half hour after you catch it it is going down your throat. Looks like a great time keep the pics and stories coming. You finding that shed brings back memories of glassing up dozens of caribou and moose sheds a day and not even wanting to get them because there were so many.Take care Josh

Hap is 3/4 hound. Not sure of the parents. I think one might have been bluetick. He is 1/4 German Short Hair. Really fun dog to hunt with. I have a few hounds that can out trail him, but not by much. In 40 years I have never had a dog that could touch him all around. You almost laugh when you see him work. You just want to say to yourself, "Did I just see that?" I have heard that every now and then a gsp/ bluetick can sometimes make a dinamite cat chasen dog. I know very little about hounds, but I sure like gsp's energy/speed and a dang good nose to boot. What do you think, could this be the next breed for runnin and treeing cats in the desert? I'll tell you what once you see that dog work it will make you want one or ten. I have been around alot of different breeds of dog but these hounds are something else. The things they will go through to get after those lion's is amazing. We trailed one day in some terrible country for at least five hours in the heat of the day and when we finally caught up with Hap, Roxy ,and Old Mike alls they needed was a drink of water and they would have been ready to go again even with tore up feet and noses Randy had to physically get them kenneled so they would stop trying to track. Randy's very kind to say what I went through to be successful, but as far as I am concerned he went beyond what a guide needs to do to get the job done. Thanks again Randy for making it a hunt I will never forget and for fufilling a dream of mine to take a mountain lion!!
