Baboquivari- Elk Horn Fire Effect?
Buckhorn replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I went out into a burned area in the Rincons this spring that burned last summer; the cover was >90% grass with alot of the other species resprouting... I saw ALOT of deer in the burned areas. Depending upon the elevation and the plant species composition, places with sprouters would be more likely for rehabilitation first (oaks, mtn mahogany, mesquite, acacia, etc). Other locations with longer lived species that take some time might take longer as the food sources are not there yet. T I was up on the Rincons in 95 when Storm King Fire hit in Colorado. The Rincon Fire was amazing fire to be on. We took out a type two team that were EMT's from the Valley and half way through the night the fire blew up and half those guy's shat there pants and wanted to go home. And we never found out where the Sky Cranes were getting there water but they kept dropping fish, snakes and all kinds of stuff on us. Buckhorn -
Baboquivari- Elk Horn Fire Effect?
Buckhorn replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
All the fires that we have had this year are doing nothing but great things for the animals and the vegetation. When the fires start to burn really hot and you get more of a Moonscape effect thats when you need to start to think of a year or two before animals come back. Buckhorn -

I agree they are hands down the best boot I have ever owned. I still have two pair from Fire Fighting in the 90s. And I've only sent one back to have it re-leathered. Buckhorn

After looking at the pics for a few hours I think that the NT Kachina bull is taking a dirt nap. Doug do you have any pics of the NT out of velvet this year. Buckhorn

The camera had a load trigger 35mm. We had the wind in our favor about 400 yards away. Its really hard to sit ahead of the gate. And we did leave a note with the camera. I believe the guy is hunt deer in the area but not sure. I also hope he calls before season. Buckhorn

On Friday I was checking a tank in the area that I’m going to be Elk hunting. We moved off the tank; up onto a point so that we could glass anything coming into the tank. We where watching a few deer coming in just ahead of a couple of bulls that we have been watching. The deer came up to the gate to come in and stopped and then turned tail and ran up the ridge they had just come from. We still had the elk to watch so we waited to see what would happen and the same thing happened. After they where gone we packed up and went down to the tank to see if there was anything obvious that would spook the animals. And there it was a camera on the trail coming in. now my question. When Elk season starts and I want to sit the tank and the camera is there is it Camera ethical to cover up the camera? I now what I’m going to do but wanted to get your opinions. Thanks Buckhorn Nathan
