baiting deer? is this still hunting?
trophyhunter replied to marlin's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Of course it's hunting. It is by far the most challenging and most mental and physical form of hunting. Try sitting in a stand or blind for days on end and not even see a squirl. It takes a lot of hard work to put up stand or blind in a good area that you have found deer sign. Walking and glassing is so much easier and most of the time a lot more exciting (not boring). All because your sitting doesn't mean it's easy. -
Thank you all for the compliments. As you can see here on this site it has been a great year for many hunters. I just hope next year can be as half as fun. I hope you all the best luck and cant wait to see what happens during the rifle hunts. Good luck to all and be safe. Trophyhunter

Thanks for all the congrats. I'm glad you all enjoy the picts. He gross scores around 123 7/8. Scored from a few good friends and myself many times. Like CRB said we were getting a little more than 122 every time. I thought something was up when i showed up at your house (CRB) cause you really didn't say much. I did see some drooling though, so.. Thanks for the help with the measuring. Thanks again for the compliments. I bet most people around Safford and Tucson have already seen some picts on their cell phone. I was even getting pictures of my deer sent back to me saying look at this huge deer some dude shot. I was like WOW you have to be kidding me ding dong. This whole experience has been great. I hope everybody will be able to enjoy such great gratitude, self accomplishement, and just the whole experience of watching a deer grow and having him wanting to make you quit hunting on those days when he busted you. Than being able to close the distance when you thought it was impossible and finally be able to track and walk upon your kill of The Great Illusive Grey Ghost of the Desert. My hat goes off to all the bowhunters who have had this experience of shooting a Coues Whitetail. The deer is a 5x4 (without counting eye gaurds). This picture you can see he has a 2.5" tine coming off the tip of his left main beam. It grows into the rack or directly at the camera in the other pictures. Can't really see it in them. Oh yeah. I do have many pictures of the whole deer with a white tail, not a white butt. I'll PM anybody some picts if you honestly truly think it may be carp and not just the fact your little jealous somebody got a nice buck and it wasn't you. Hope you enjoy and good luck to all. Thanks, Kade

THought I would share some pictures of a buck I shot almost two weeks ago. To make a long story short I finally came through on a spot and stock on a mature coues. The shot was 40 yards and hit him in the neck because he was looking at me or in my direction. He kept getting bigger and bigger as I walked closer. I have been watching this deer for a few years and finally I was able to close the distance. I was hunting an area with no success of seeing any big bucks. Luckily I packed my gear up and headed to one of my other favorite spots. It all worked out and I couldn't be any happier. Hope you enjoy and good luck. Sorry it took me so long. I wasn't really trying to do so. I'll post better ones now that I know how.

What does a custom trigger job go for. Say a jewel or timney.

FALL 2007-JAN 2008 COUES BUCK CONTEST
trophyhunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
My dad Alton took this beautiful buck with his bow on the second of September 2007 in unit 33. He grosses 114 7/8” and is a typical 3x4. He made a great long 70 yard shot that put the buck straight down. My brother , dad and I were hunting all day when we jumped him up heading back to the truck. I am the one in the green shirt and my brother has the camo shirt on. We had a great time and made memories that we will never forget. Hope you all enjoy the picts and the site of seeing such a great mature buck on the ground with three coues hunters that couldn’t be any happier. Good luck to all and safe hunting. Factory or Handloaded Ammo?
trophyhunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I shoot hand loads because I can load a really good bullet that is very expensive for the price that I can buy cheap box for. You can reload better bullets for the same price as buying cheaper ones. -
What would you do? (hunting etiquette)
trophyhunter replied to PSEHunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I usually just shoot at em from really far away. JK -

Great job. That's one of the coolest bucks I have ever seen. Nice width and he just looks like a very smart sneaky deer. Congrats. TH
