reece_mess, congrats on a good early season 12b buck. My brother helped two friends up there this year for a couple of days and they got two bucks about the same size as yours. They saw a lot of doe and small bucks while they were there. My dad got a 23 inch wide 4x4 on the 12b west side in 2001 and that seemed like a larger than average buck for the early season.

My dad found a tank that jad a gut pile near it, then the next day it had another, mightve been you. Shouldve told you where we were camped. Im on my way back now, went 6 for 6 in our camp. With one giant and 2 really good bucks, the rest were meat bucks. You can't go 6 for 6 without posting pics. Congrats, you guys did well.

With so many deadlines to put in for hunts, it is easy to forget. Its kind of hard to keep track of compared to when there used to be one draw for elk and deer. But I do like the new way knowing that I got drawn for elk with lots of time to prepare.

Is anyone else out there with a Kaibab or 12b story that came back early? I thought that there would be a few more pics by now.

I've seen an outfitter do the same thing once.

I was down in unit 6a yesterday for only about three hours and saw about 60 deer and about 10 of them were little bucks. I didn't see any big bucks, but with more time I probably would have found something decent.

My brother is with some friends of ours up in 12B West right now. I will let you know you all know how their hunt went when they get back.

Congrats on your sons successful doe hunt. Yeah, definitely let us know how your early rifle hunt goes up on the Kaibab. The Kaibab is a special place.
