The where to hunt section on the arizona game and fish website breaks the unit down for mule deer. During December the deer should be in the junipers or cedars is what i call them. I have never hunted unit 27 but it sounds like a rough unit with elevation change. There has to be some big mule deer in there and during the rut when the hunt is they'll be with the does.

If this was me I would go either 12a west late, 27 december rifle mule deer, or 6a december rifle mule deer. If unit 23 has a December rifle hunt this year for mule deer I would also consider that. These would all be my second choices and I would put either 13b rifle or 13a rifle first choice. Good luck I wish that I had 11 points.

Has anyone had any luck or have a story from this windy weekend?

you are a dishonorable person. You received a phone call from someone that informed you of the events that transpired in regards to how the lion ban was defeated, yet you still came on here and spouted your nonsense and continued to lie to everyone. You weren't raised with any ethics? Not ONCE have you contributed anything relevant, you have only slandered those that do. Keep feeding into the negativity, it is laughable. Dude take your you havent contributed anything relevant ans shove it up your butt, ive sat here like others and watched you and another numb nut spin so much shoot its ridiculous. your calling someone else dishonorable and contributing to a lie. but yet you are one of Petes marry men, Raffle tags suck as well. just like auction tags. however you used that to claim MOST people are in favor of Raffle tags. well when its compared to auction tags most probably are. kinda like asking someone thats going to be executed if they want the electric chair or lethal injection. you also played people right into that innocent poll that was takin. which I knew for a fact was going to happen, even said so in that thread. spin spin spin doing what you do best NOTHING is still on the table I agree Delw, we don't want auction or raffle tags!! -
I was going to go hunt this weekend coming up but they're forecasting a lot of wind. Hopefully the weekend after has less wind.

My dad got this gobbler on opening morning of the first season hunt last Friday. This was the earliest that we've gotten a bird called in and he was done with his hunt 20 minutes after daylight. My brother and I still have tags and we almost had another one called in on the second morning in another area of the unit but it didn't work out. We ended up calling in a hen from behind us and there was a gobbler and hens in front of us out of sight. He decided to not come in though. I might be back up next weekend to try to get one.

It's looking like the second hunt is going to have not much wind on the weekend which should help. Good luck on your hunts and let us know how its going out there.

Awesome, congratulations on your success.
-
Thanks for the updates and keep them coming.
-
Congrats! I had a good feeling that you guys would get one.

I think that its more fun turkey hunting with a shotgun rather than a bow. I like to be able to move when I need to and I would rather not be in a blind. Good luck and thanks for the update.

Does anyone have any updates on the youth 6a hunt or the youth 6a, 5b, 5a camp?
-
Cool. Hopefully the wind has died down and you're listening to gobbles right now. Good luck

Rossislider, Thanks for posting some pics. Hopefully we hear more about your hunt while you're out there. Good luck on the hunt!

wildwoody, I think that a tag cost around 225 bucks which is pretty expensive.

I heard a turkey gobbling at 4:30 in the afternoon yesterday in unit 7. You could also hear the hens calling with it. It was pretty cool.
-
Congratulations!! If you don't mind saying, what unit were you hunting?

I'm not saying that this post is set up by an anti hunter or whatever, but I've always wondered if anti hunters ever try to come on this website with new accounts and try to knock hunting in a negative way without saying it.

So who's hunting stink pigs or the collared peckers this year?

If you're going to just pick a spot on the map and just hike than you might as well look for sheds too. There's still chances to find browns on March 10th and it will likely be a bigger elk shed at that date. Just hike in the cedar trees and warn them that it might be a little early but there's a chance. I've found three browns all within 20 yards of each other on February 28th one year and they were in the 340 to 360 range sheds. This was the earliest that I've found browns but it happened.

U of A was a 4 seed in 1997 and their record at the end of the season before march madness was 19-9 and 11-7 in conference. They ended up with a record of 25-9 after the championship.

I agree I got a kick out of Hurley tonight mocking the refs. I'm a U of A fan but I don't mind seeing a good ASU team once in a while. I root for Arizona and the pac 12 teams in March madness. When I first saw Arizona this year I thought that it might be their best team that I've seen since I could remember. I still think that they're good it's just that there are a lot of teams that are just as good as them. I think that it's going to take six games of their best basketball to have a chance at winning it all this year just like in 1997. The only problems that show sometimes are Ristics defense and some of the guard play.

Congrats on your successful hunt. You guys got the javelina hunting thing down.
