I disagree with most of their rules other than no trail cameras, and maybe spotlighting. I like how they still allow you to retrieve your elk with a motorized vehicle. That is ridiculous that you can't hunt water. This is just my opinion on it.

I think that it is going to be a great year for rutting bulls. Flag is 4 inches above average for rain, with the third wettest july on record.

These photos of these mule deer are great, and I appreciate you guys posting them . Does anyone happen to have any photos of bucks on the strip this year?
-
Prowlerman that is a real nice buck. Was that pic taken on the kaibab or south of the ditch?
-
Nice pics!

I agree with lefty on taking the road that goes south out of St. George (especially if you have a trailer). When I go to 13b, I drive from Flagstaff through Fredonia and St. George. I have never been the Vegas route, but I'm sure it could be quicker.

Not drawn for deer and bighorn. All I got was a turkey tag in the kaibab.

Probably sick they didn't find this one

It was a great turnout. There were lots of prizes raffled off and great food. I believe I saw (TLH) Terry Herndon there also. -
Make sure you vote to expand the season.

I've been hunting the second hunt in unit 6b, and have gotten pretty close. Friday morning we heard nothing, and it was breezy. Friday evening we roosted a bird. Saturday morning we did a bad set up on the bird roosted the night before, and he went the other way gobbling. We almost got him in a couple times Saturday morning. Saturday evening we didn't hunt. Sunday morning I went out and it was pretty breezy, and didn't hear anything.

I have seen a couple stories about how the first season turkey hunts went. Anyone else get into some, or have any luck? There has been some great weather this year, so I hope to hear more stories.

Sweet video. Loved the gobbling. -
Congrats on filling both tags. New Mexico is a fun place to spring turkey hunt.

After not many posts about how the juniors did, I was wondering if any other juniors had success.

Thanks everyone for the updates. It is always fun to see how it is going out there. If there is anymore updates, keep them coming.
-
Congrats on the bird. If you don't mind me asking, were you guys hunting in eastern arizona?
-
They're gobbling. I got a couple to gobble this evening, while I was scouting for my hunt that is in a couple weeks.
-
I kind of like the way they do bonus points, but I think I would prefer the squared points system.

I got $9 a pound for unbroken brown, and $8.50 a pound for broken brown. This was in Flagstaff with Jeff Allen. Anthonyrmatthews, where in Flag did you get $10.00 a pound?
-
I didn't get drawn for elk or antelope. Good luck to all those that got tags.

I agree with you truehunter.

I haven't looked at what they're doing with the doe tags up on the kaibab for next year. But if they're increasing the doe tags, I think that it will affect the deer herd in a negative way. Ever since they have been trying to kill the doe off up there, the deer hunting hasn't been the same.
