Does anyone have any information on the Unit 1 Flat top area? My hunt starts the end of September. I have made calls into the wildlife managers for that area and am not getting any return calls. My concerns are that I was reading in the regs where is says that this unit has very limited access and only accessible by hiking or packing in. Also, I'm having difficulty getting the precise boundries. The regs shows FR 74 for the south boundry, but I only find SR 76 on the habimap. I know there is a lot of private land, but unless I have ATV access to public land, I may have pass on this trip. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Good luck on that hunt, ill be trying to get some info on that area also since my brother inlaw drew the sept archery cow hunt for that area. I actually sent in for a left over for the aug. rifle and the sept archery for that hunt i figured what the heck. Ill be looking around in june and ill let you know what we find. OK. Thanks mje1. This whole draw for me was petty crazy. I wrote down the wrong hunt numbers. I thought I had put in for 2 archery hunts, 3181 and 3182. But evidently I wrote down 3080 for one of them and that's the one that was drawn. Not that I'm complaining. A draw is a draw.

I've been drawn for a unit 1 limited flat top hunt. I have got some info from Bill Quimby ( thanks Bill for your input) and am still looking for as much information as I can find. I've not hunted that area, but with only 5 tags issued, I'm thinking my chances are pretty good. Would like any information that anyone can provide on hunting that area. Thanks.

Just came across your website and have now signed on. I have been drawn for a limitied antlerless hunt in Unit 1 and know nothing about the area other than camping and fishing Big and Crescent Lakes. From what I have gathered so far, the area is small and mostly private. My hunt is for 9/28/12 through 10/7/12. I won't have a chance to scout other than just before the season opens. Any help and information as to good public access, contacts, etc. would sure be appreciated. This will be a "general" rifle hunt. I am 68 (will be 69 by the time of the hunt) but do have a quad.
