I know what you are talking about, a person yesterday was bugeling every 5 minutes for about 4 hours and it was obvious it was a hunter.

Look at my post the rut . We were on big bulls everyday , they exercised us well. They are not on fire yet. You should be golden.

weather dosnt bring a dog into heat so , I dont think weather is the culprit, but im sure there are other scientific evaluations if you know elk 101.

Back from 8 . Maybe 1 or 2 bugles in the morning , and then from 2 pm till 4 pm . Thirty minutes before dark they talk and are all herded together. I glassed 5 bulls with 12 cows . All the bulls were bugeling, but not rutting.

I like this! cow is always my 2nd choice and my freezer is usually full. I do 3 4 5 cow and have drawn 3s and 4s to keep meat in the freezer. 1 and 2 are bull for me. Not much meat on the horns and the velvet isnt that good either.

been there, just like 2 years ago , sunday came alive. Thats ok I was up last weekend and were on bulls every day just no shots. Thankyou sir.

same here and the kids should learn the same way, whithout a criminal citation.

its a kid, sometimes I worry if a novice hunter can tell the difference between a whitetail and a mule deer. I have never worried about my kid shooting a shitbird instead of a dove or a quail. If they shoot the shitbird oh well. They need to know the difference, and if that is by mistake, oh well. They are youth hunters, and need to learn. Sometimes that leads to mistakes. If the gfd officer can not understand the difference between a child and an adult, he is a real dumb azz. You cant be perfect , but you gotta try. IT HAPPENS

Last fall we killed 3 cow elk in 21. We camped at yellow jacket creek, and had 3 gutted elk hanging. The meat was all processed there. We loaded all the scraps in a truck and dumped them in a more remote area, to keep a nice camp area clean. Not because of hippies, peta, democrats or granolas. The truck deal is different, get the meat where it needs to be and process. If you have a sentra or whatever, your a hunter who cares what others think. You use the equipment you have to transport, as long as you are not exploiting the carcass in a strange way.

Its all good, not on top or on the hood. This individual obviously attended hunter safety at the top of his class.
