these seem pretty good for the money. I have worked on a couple. No issues just pattern work. Hope you find something that works for you guys. Post pics when he kills one

If you don't find something else check out this gun. Its a pretty good youth gun and the ammo shoots really well out of this gun.

You can buy them at Cal-Ranch and I think Sportmans has them too.

You have probably seen it, but this was a pretty good read. We plan to do the whole river, but we are doing it in sections

Have you done the verde before? We cancelled our trip last year due to all the water. This year we are doing the headwaters to Camp Verde in late April.

I think lions are fairly easy to call in. There is a huge learning curve at the beginning but after a couple of lions it gets very cookie cutter.
I would never mouth call. They come in fast and there is always the chance of calling in a bear which I’m not fond of.Personally I think you have to understand travel routes, bedding and sunning areas to be okay at glassing them up. Most people I know that have found them using glass were looking for deer, elk, etc. Not saying impossible but not easy.
If it's that simple, how many have you called and killed? Any pics?

We live west of Flagstaff about 20 miles. Our coop is an old gutted aluminum trailer with a 20x30 run attached. I covered the top of the run to keep the critters out. Temps get down to as low as -9 and we have never heated the coop. We have 15 hens of several different breeds and one rooster. We do run a heated water bucket, but that is all we do. In 4 years we have never lost a chicken. They do slow down with laying during the shorter days of winter, but even right now with temps in the teens at night, we are getting 8-10 eggs a day. We started with a cheap coop from Tractor Supply and 6 hens but realized right away it was too small. Good luck finding a coop!

Not like I had hoped. The bullet blew up on the shoulder blade on a close shot. With the big .338's we have had the best luck with barns so I guess I will go to the 270gr barnes for my next hunt.

IMO it looks like the shot is almost a foot forward of where I would think is a double lung shot. GREAT bull BTW.
I agree 100%

I started with a 26” barrel on a 7 stw and cut one inch off at a time. From 27 inches down to 23 inches I lost 60 FPS....Then a funny thing happened....From 22 inches all the way down to 18 inches Velocities returned back to what I was getting with a 26 inch barrel. No powder or bullet changes and all testing was done under the same conditions. I have confirmed this several times over the yrs with different calibers....
thats interesting......

I've done this too. I have a buck that's 8yrs out of the freezer and still looks great.

I was looking into a smoke less build a few years back but I thought it wasnt legal in Az.

I saw a buck in 2016 and wanted pics of him. I set up 3 salts and 4 cameras in that area. I got him 2 times on a trail leading to water, never on the salt. I have seen him a few other times. He is still there but never has gone to the salt.

Please tell me you don't actually believe that... Give me enough funding and I can get you a study to prove anything you want. I also don't trust the public school to actually educate my kid, so I doubt you and I could every find common ground for a fact based discussion. Facts are not "science", they are just reality.

I do have more faith in the education system than you and trust the professionals that work with my child. That being said, I understand that our state’s K-12 is the most poorly funded state education system in the union, so I can appreciate your concerns with it. Moreover, I take an active role in my child’s education and have a good relationship with all her teachers. Lastly, I know some areas are worse off than the school district my child is in.
This right here is how liberals are made.

Everyone could use a new avatar or profile pic 🤷🏻♀️ just a thought that ran across my mind this morning after catching up on some reading.
That is a great idea!

6 hours ago, GoldToyBox said:Hey Guys thanks for all the input but I really didn't want to start any arguments.
Pintail, I've taken a couple of 6 pt bulls, a few rag horns/spikes and lots of cows. I would really love something larger ( a toad) to end my days of AZ hunting. (might sneak back for Javelina?)
But it's not just about Horns, I want some good memories of my last days on the mountain. I still climb the mountains but they just keep getting taller every year. It took me a month to recover from Colorado last year.
Someone else asked if I planned to use a guide, Yes. With 19 pts on the line I need to get it right and can't learn an area with just a little pre season scouting.
From my research from the info you fellas gave me and talking with others. I can just about pick any late season Archery tag, I have no chance at any early rifle hunt with the possible exception of 17A. Anyone see it different?
Early Muzzleloader Unit 22 looks possible and Unit 10 should be 100%. Not seeing any other opportunities.
Early Archery Unit 3A3C looks possible, along with Units 17a, 1, 15a. I welcome any input if you see something I'm not seeing or understanding.
I haven't done any research yet on which units are the most promising, right now only looking for Units I know I can draw a tag. Hopefully "point creep" and/or a sudden interest in the unit that I apply for doesn't derail my plans and hopes. Only takes a mention in a magazine or blog to get folks all looking at the same unit.
Wish everyone a Happy New Year filled with limited entry tags.
I would pick a guide that can give you some good references and let them help you decide.

These are solid actions. I bought one in a pawn shop in tucson almost 20 years ago. Picked it up for $40 because it was missing the floor plate. Its one of my best shooting guns.
