Was it hard to skin those trout? I've never seen that done before.

Not at all it. We cut all the fins off and gut them. Next we cut right behind the gills to the spine then grab the head and pull back until the spine breaks. Once you do that you can use the head as a handle to peel the skin back towards the tail. That is the only way my grandpa ever cooked trout. My boy likes them breaded and fried so that's what we did.

Was thinking about maybe an early May date for some shooting up north where it will be cooler. If not then, I am hoping for about the third week in August or thereabouts. September looks to be busy for me. A buddy drew an antelope tag and I will be hunting bear in CO or sitting blinds if we can still OTC archery for deer.

You higher elevation guys, when do the fire bans hit your spots? When is it over? What dates do you think would work?

I would expect fire bans by early May this year, but you never know. Most years they are in place by Memorial Day at the latest.

Most of the wildlife foundations are great, and i am a member of a few of them but what i am saying is with the amount of money that G&F takes in vs what they spend, the wildlife foundations should not be responsible for donating so much time and money to habitat improvement. When there is that much money unaccounted for each year but the forests are a mess, campgrounds look like dumpsters, lakes are not getting stocked, nothing is getting patrolled, violations are not getting written, game populations are going down, tanks are dry, etc.

I would like to see how much money is spent on the Landowner relations program. I bet its way more than we think.

    Yep, and earlier too.

Here is my great-grandfather's Winchester 1894 that I have now. Serial number says build was circa 1907.

My family said he got a decent number of deer all around the Sulphur Springs Valley in the first half of the 20th century. They hunted up to Willcox, over to Bisbee, down to Douglas and all around there. Dos Cabezas and Mule mountains I think are the two ranges on either side.

It's old enough that it is marked 30 W.C.F. instead of the newer, more common 30-30 marking.

That is super cool. I grew up hunting with my grandpa in all those same places.

You get many crappie off the shore?

I honestly don't remember how many, but it was enough to make us happy. Probably 10 keepers a day along with lots of other fish mixed in.

  7. Posting  for my neighbor. I can get more details for anyone interested. These are all located between parks and Williams

1 male hog. Not sure of the breed but my son raised one from the same litter.  We butchered his at 180lbs and the meat is amazing.  This hog is about 200lbs now. Asking $225

2 male goats. Not sure of the breed but I would guess they are under 50lbs. Free to good home.

2 roosters about 6mo old free to good home.
