Its not too cold for the elk. I don't know CN but in unit 8 the elk herds are starting to break up a bit from what I was seeing mid October. With all the moisture I wouldn't focus on water too much. Good Luck!

Are you looking in town? North? South? Hauling water or even having it delivered is pretty easy to do. The only issue is if there is a lot of snow you need to plan ahead.

Living in 8 I see the numbers fluctuate year to year. This year is better than last year in my opinion. A few years ago I killed several limits in the evening when I got off work. Last year I could hardly find any.

I think the 2nd week was pretty good. I saw a few good bulls killed. A few days they were talking all day long.

Most years I see elk daily driving to work at 330am. Half the time they are up feeding and half the time they are bedded. Yesterday I saw a whole herd bedded at that time. I personally don't think the moon dictates the hours they are up as much as a lot of guys do. If they are talking where you are I would move. It's only day one so you have plenty of time. Good luck!
