    Leupold Props!

    I shipped out a pair of leupold binos 2 weeks ago. They said to expect a new pair in 2-3 weeks because the repair shop was under construction. I sent my Swarovskis in the same day. A week later they tell me its going to cost $200 to fix them and it will be 4 weeks.

    using the Contender this fall

    I have shot a few deer with a .243AI. I had bad luck with the 85gr spitzers. The 85gr Game Kings worked great. My buddy in Texas shot 2 deer with the V-max and the bullets blew up on the shoulder. Good luck on your hunt!

    Parking on State Land

    Try telling the cyclists around Tucson that you are legally hunting and they are required to have a permit to be there.

    Where's the best hand tossed pizza in Arizona?

    I've tried about every place in flag. Nimarcos is still my favorite. Grand canyon brewery in Williams has pretty good pizza.

    Discount Tire member?

    They wouldn't match online prices at the flagstaff store.

    Discount Tire member?

    I use to be a loyal customer at discount tire but I think they have really gone downhill. I just bought tires for my truck from Amazon. Had them shipped to pep boys and installed there. I saved $380 from what discount quoted me. Before the 4th we were going on vacation so I took the car in for a rotate and balance. They used the little scanner machine and told me I needed new tires. I asked for an actual tread depth gage and the tires were fine. The scanner was 3/32 off. I would look at other options.

    First Coues Tag!

    My first experience hunting 21 was interesting. I hiked into a canyon with a glassing knob in the middle of it before daylight. I glassed for about an hour and then turned around to glass back towards the road. I was shocked to see a line of 7 guys spread out glassing the canyon from the road. I caught movement just below the group and noticed a little buck walking down the canyon. With only 2 days to hunt and my wife coming up that evening with her own tag I decided to try and kill this buck. I moved to the bottom of the canyon and killed the buck as he crossed in front of me. About 30 seconds later I heard a shot from up on the road. I loaded up my buck and got back to camp about an hour later. As I was putting my buck in the ice chest a ranger drove by with a huge buck in the back followed by a line of trucks. Talking to one of the guys he said they had been watching that buck for the last few weeks but never saw him that day until I shot and he stood up. I guess I should have kept looking they killed him 250yds from where I was glassing from that morning. Its a fun unit with plenty of bucks.

    Rim lakes?

    We were in Pinetop for the weekend. Even at first light the wind was so bad you couldn't even cast. We tried to fish the creek below Show low but I was shocked at all the drug paraphernalia and homeless people down there.

    I took the wife and boy for Mothers Day. We only fished a couple of hours due to the wind. We kept enough for a good dinner.

  24. The Tunnel Fire has closed Highway 89 in both directions in Doney Park, however detours are available to avoid the immediate area. One alternative route includes taking Interstate-40 east to about a mile past Winslow, then heading north on State Route 87 to the Hopi Reservation, then west on State Route 264 to Tuba City. Then head east on Highway 160 to Highway 89. A second alternative route available is by taking I-40 west out towards Williams, then taking State Route 64 past Grand Canyon Junction to Valle and Tusayan. Then take the highway around the South Rim of the Grand Canyon until it meets up with State Route 89. The Grand Canyon is not charging a fee to drive through the park. For more information, log onto Coconino County’s Tunnel Fire website.
