13a Archery Strip tag DIY with my family (2013)
ready2hunt replied to aguas's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Great write up. That is such a neat experience that you go to share with your wife and baby. Its the memories that make a trophy buck in my opinion...not inches. Thanks for sharing, Congrats -
Sorry to hear that. Good luck to the both of you. Make the investment and buy a lifetime license if you want to hunt here later on.

Walmart's "whatever's cheapest" GoodWill's "What you find on 1/2 price Saturday" Its more of what I can afford vs. what I prefer now that the family is hunting

I love my 30-06...that caliber never fails. What grain bullet were you using?
-
Best one I know of: 1.Marinade in bbq 2. Place on tin foil covered board 3. cook on fire for 30min 4. When cooked- throw meat away and eat the board. Jk I've never had it but had heard its good.

The police departments used to put on some courses. You may want to call. Not sure if they do anymore.

I have several knives but I am a diehard havalon fan. I own a 7" buck knife and a swing blade as well. My last hunt I got the bear in my avatar and only had my havalon with me. I was worried that without my hacksaw that capeing the animal with the paws and head attached would be hard HOWEVER I simply cut through all the cartilage and a simple twist was all it took to separate the bones at the joint. I did all 4 paws and spine/neck in no time. I had zero experience with method as I had always used a hack/bone saw but I will never carry a saw with me again. It was so easy I felt dumb for relying on a saw all these years.

Awesome bear! When was that picture taken of the bear eating? I don't think it is the same bear either. Congrats to your bro! -
black bear hunt in unit 22?
ready2hunt replied to kingbeer's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
The matazels are a wilderness area....no vehicular access. So you either need a buddy to help or a horse. However if it is closed then I guess it doesn't matter either way. Good luck to you. -
there were a couple dead (awhile back) on the 101 south transition ramp from the 202 in the east valley. I see a ton in Unit 1 every august. Good luck.

Any Preppers out there?
ready2hunt replied to Coach's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Just watched the video and ya maybe more time understanding your weapon/safety. My old sergeant always said there are no accidents when it comes to firearms, just mistakes. That guy need to prep his family with some safety lessons by a professional. -
Great job! That is one heck of a buck to start your hunting career with haha.

Any Preppers out there?
ready2hunt replied to Coach's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Speaking of preppers....yes I am a "wanna-be prepper." And have started my own "little stockpile." Having said that, anyone seen That show on discovery channel called doomsday preppers? It's a show where they manufacturer bunkers for people? Been watching it and I am hooked. I would love to build one for myself. And yes- this is a total thread hijacking haha -
I think he was trying to tell an joke, "what do you get when you cross a man in a chair, public rights and a big bull story??" ANSWER- Barrack Obama! Thanks Chico and welcome to the site.

Unit 9 Arizona Elk Hunt Success Photos
ready2hunt replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
Yes I agree with all that. The north got pounded. Unit 1 was horrible with mosquitos! Spent a week up there and was done lol. My uncle told me if I thought that was bad then I should never hunt Alaska. -

This year was no more "wet" than last year. Some areas received higher moister than others but overall for the state it was still a dry one. Check your rain totals for our monsoon season. Jay you put up great bulls every year. Not sure what the negative comments are for??? (3) posts from someone and they are knocking your business. (And YES we all know this is a public forum and everyone has the right to share their opinion). I appreciate you sponsoring the site w/the other sponsors. I must be a below average hunter because I would be happy with either of those bulls you posted up. Oh, and these 375-380 bulls that were mentioned? It's safe to say that if I saw those bulls and had a tag in my pocket- no amount of scent blocker would mask the crap in my pants.
