Couldn't agree with you more! I personally have not shot a coues at more than 30 yards haha My rifle is a 30-06 and while its not a old fashion round I wouldn't trade my trusty 06 for anything. How in the world did you arrive at the conclusion that 30-06 SPRG is NOT an old fashioned round??? haha well I guess I meant it is not as old fashion as others. I know it been around for a while

macknnc ?? Not sure if you misunderstood me but I think what you typed up was great and I am agreeing with you. I know that on forums like these there is room for a lot of misinterpretation so if you took my comment as somehow putting you down I apologize. It was quite the opposite.

based upon the overall rings, triangulation of position, height + width + curl ratio I would suggest that I don't know anything. My guess is shoot it haha

When you have guys on this site who can't be hunting today its kind of an unspoken rule not to post up success with out pics!!!!!! Lets see the buck.

if you're hunting coues in AZ more often than not you'll be taking long shots. Not always and many times you can get closer but that is the area and terrain here. Not always but a lot of the time.

and so it begins!!! congrats!

seriously make me an offer

We used to have one that did the EXACT same thing...I would have to get a blow dryer out once a year and clear the whole thing off. if it doesn't have that frost control there is really nothing you can do. We a new OLDER model upright from a store 2 years ago as a gift from my in-laws. Its a cheapy freezer but that no-frost mechanism is worth its weight in gold. I'd say sell what you got and invest in a new one if you got the $$

That is awesome shedhunter....keep em coming! Don't you just love how the clock just will not move on days like today........good luck everybody and be safe..... Yes I hate this! I am not going until tomorrow morning anyway but still....I am tempted to shoot myself in the foot just the think about something else.

Ya it looks crazy but it would actually be a pretty small bear. There are 3 different season depending on the unit. Once hunters have checked in a certain amount of females (female harvest limit) then the season is closed until the next year.

+1 to Kidso....he is a resident expert on the bears here haha Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of what bears can look like. My trail got these earlier this year. Blondie's like this one aren't that common either...my cam just got lucky.

I am working too! I got the shakes sitting here watching the clock. Good luck to everyone hunting this morning. I will live vicariously the next 24hours watching your pics come in!

what scope are you using? just curious

Not sure exactly but at least 1000 rds. My bro in law might be interested. If he is I will PM you thanks!

How many boxes of the 9mm do you have?
-
Good job most people go out and call and can't get anything in range. Pm me if you look to selling some of your predator stuff!

+100 to the salt. Even if you have to keep it in your vehicle and hike out 7 miles if you properly cape and salt the hide then that hide can sit for a VERY long time in the shade.
-
Sounds like your bro is just like every other novice hunter or even fisherman. No one who is new or inexperienced to hunting likes to sit for hours or go home fruitless (for lack of a better phrase). Patience and appreciation for the experience come with time. I have hunting in my blood as well but I can tell you that I hated waiting for hours to see an animal growing up or going home without seeing anything. The only thing that made me love the experience was the joy my father showed of just having me out there and him finding ways to make me like the experience. Now I am forever hooked. Just put on a smile and enjoy your time out there. There are plenty of people who grow up hunting and don't care for it.....I would venture to say that in 90% of those cases it's because whoever took them had a less enjoyable attitude. Clearly you're not one of those. I am sure you two will do great. Post up some pics when you do go out!

Yes, I would say that smile of his holds a long weekend and 13 miles of pride in it! Great job!

Hey guys, I figured I would throw out this one out there in case anyone was looking into cold weather gear. Last year I had an elk tag and a few of the nights were some of the coldest I had hunted in. (and no I didn't tag out) That experience was enough to push me to buy a GOOD cold weather jacket. After lengthy research I purchased the ONYX ARCTIC SHIELD PARKA last year. It is hands down, the best jacket I have ever worn. Water proof, wind proof and even TOO warm at times! I have yet to wear anything more than a t-shirt under it and have been sitting for hours in freezing weather. I even have my little one sit in it for a couple of hours while I helped a friend field dress and elk last year. It cost me $150 at bass pro and is a terrific buy (it was my birthday present to myself). Good luck to everyone with the late elk and deer hunts....I am just a tag-along this year! I am sure there are other great jackets this is just my personal experience.

Every person I have spoken with who shoots long range says that glass and pillar bedding are a must HOWEVER, interestingly enough they have all remarked that its has to be done correctly. I was told if you glass bed issue now you have permanent issues. I want to glass and pillar bed my BDL but I think I am going to put a synthetic stock on it first. I love the wood but I want something more durable.
