Was blessed again to be able to tag out. No fancy story to this one, I happened to be in the right spot at the right time. He was pushing a doe though which I hadn't seen that early before, was just him and a lone doe. Had my boy and brother with me so I couldn't be more happy about it. I pulled off the velvet did the euro mount as I didn't have one yet and put it above last years buck for comparison. (The buck with the velvet I had buried in salt and borax last year- its still good with no bugs) Good luck to everyone still put there!

beautiful bear- congrats! Post up the measurements when you have them! -
Why stop there: we know how to clone stuff now, and there used to be wooly mammoths here. Ranchers will just have to learn how to raise cattle around manny and Sid the sloth. what really pisses me off is hunters get all mad about anti hunters and legislation that hurts hunting and then support this wolf crap and wonder why it's so bad. I do not know of a single rancher that has appreciated the wolf program- they lose a ton of $$$ because they can't do anything about wolves killing off their cattle (even though the law says they can kill one that is attacking livestock). No rancher can afford to watch or pay someone to watch their cattle all day. Its just the same old reaction to a new (reintroduced) problem- if they don't have a dog in the fight they don't care.

But the wolves are natural, why shouldn't we CO-EXIST???? WHY in the world would someone have to be vigilant????? While we are at it....why don't we push for the grizzly to come to the Grand Canyon?

Pretty pissed off reading stuff like this. Had this sent to me today- not sure which paper but pretty sure the tribune.

They have been proven to completely change an eco system and reduce heard animals (aside from bison) until they starve themselves out. They are the only natural predators who have been proven to kill mass amount of their prey for no reason. My cousins run cattle in unit 1- when they verify a wolf kill they get $400. A good breed will bring in thousands depending on how long one will breed. Wolves are some of the hardest animals to trap as well- with all the Anti hunters now an so few cattle ranchers today as compared to 150 years ago, the more they are introduced they harder it will be to get rid of them. Why would anyone WANT wolves in an area? Ask ANY Alaska native (I work seasonally with several) who live near high wolf populations. There is not a SINGLE person I have talked too that like them, they are dangerous and wipe out the animals. They respect them but hate them.
