Carrying Extra Rounds in the Field
ready2hunt replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
if i can't kill something with one shot then I just use my bare hands. One time I just looked at a coues and it died....seriously. (it could have been that my bullet double lunged it but I'm no Dr.) -

took this off my 2013 Remington 700 LA BDL. It is the "custom delux" edition. Can take pic of original packaging if necessary. Does not include any bottom metal. No aftermarket customization done to it so it's yours for the making. Looking to sell quickly- $50 and it's yours. You won't fine one cheaper. Pm or text (48zero) 6281720

I never use more then 165 For coues and don't bother resetting my scope (it's dialed in for 180's) HOWEVER I am not taking shots beyond 500 either. If your shot placement is good then I agree with the above- minimal damage to the quarters. If not then you are going to be wasting a good portion of the meat.

Great display. It is easy to see when someone "knows" how to prepare a skull vs a "run-of-the-mill" job. No yellow, cracking etc. Those skulls look great!

What grain for 30-06?
ready2hunt replied to backcountry_brad's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
180gr is your best choice. I pulled this 180gr out of the fur/shoulder of the bear in my avatar. Not the best shot but they can be tough animals. While 190gr is considered a "middle weight" bullet for the gun I wouldn't see any reason to go higher. You just ruin more meat. Good luck to you! -
+1 awesome bear, we need a story

Who else is already ichin' for draw results to come out? I can't be the only one: -Looking in the CWT classifieds seeing what excuse I can come up with to upgrade gear -Looking at maps and figuring out what weekends are I sneak away to scout for a hunt I am not actually drawn for -Looking at my bank account hoping my wife wont realize I withdrew money so she wont see that i bought new gear from someone on the CWT classifieds. I hate these interem weeks of waiting....maybe it's becuase I didn't draw an elk tag but every year I feel more impatient waiting for every draw. Come on 23 late!

Hey you never know. I didn't get drawn for 24a last year. It Was the first time I had not been for the unit and I have the hunter safety point. I don't think anyone is worried just anxious. Can't wait to have a tag in my pocket and a buck in the cross hairs. Still holding out hope for 23 late- come on Lady Luck!

dang, that is just incredible how you guys can do that! great work!

July 9th is that last day to update cards. I was just asking in another thread but I thought they started hitting cards the day after the deadline to update.
-
Correct me if I am wrong but they started hitting cards the day after the deadline to update last year. At least I think they did. Anyone confirm that?

Dang, hopefully that elk will end up on your wall soon! Congrats on the finds. Do you keep or sell you sheds?

Rocks and dead fall are my favorite places to put a cam. The safest is high in a tree but if it's concealed well then you are fine.

He'll be good. Thick bases. Shooter in my book

I have sat behind a few including my own. When I have the money I will purchase swaro's. I love my little nikon's, vortex razor's are great but swaro's still hold the edge. Buy right or buy twice. As was mentioned above- go with what you like and you can always resell them if you dont like them.
