Returning tag for reinstatement of bonus points
ready2hunt replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
That's incorrect. First off it wouldn't make sense to put in for a cow tag just to give it back. But if you did it will just be like you never got drawn and got a bonus point. No extra points or anything. If you had 6 when you put in and draw and give it back you will have 7 the next year like you never drew. Tags that are given back go to the next guy in line so there are no extra tags given to anyone. Thanks Maximus and Bonecollector777 at least there are some balance to this. I like the idea of the tag going to the NEXT applicant in line. I wonder how that will work though. If they have up to 24hours prior to the hunt does G&F just try calling and calling until someone picks up even days into the hunt? I hope there is some clarification on this. -
Returning tag for reinstatement of bonus points
ready2hunt replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
Okay so let me get this straight- someone chime in and correct me on these 2 hypotheticals..... I can put in for a BS hunt ever year (instead of just buying the bonus point) lets say for cow elk that has a high draw rate. If I get drawn (which is likely to happen) I can return my tag up to 24hrs prior to the hunt beginning and not only get my points back BUT ALSO get an additional bonus point??? Am I reading that right? Another example- My father has 24 antelope bonus points. Since he is has a high chance of getting drawn he can put in (next year) do the same as mentioned above and get 2 bonus points in one year. Thus staying 2x ahead of the game keeping tags out of reach for other people? I can only assume the tag you return will go to NO ONE ELSE. Not that we do this but that is pretty F----ed up for such a limited amount of tags. Please correct me if I am wrong. -

very cool video. I wish all manufactures did that to show how effective their product is. Hijack again- You guys with vias: The Vias website claims they are MUCH quieter than other industry breaks. Would you agree. That has always been by issue with them. I wanted to put one on my rifle for my daughter but opted not too.

I do not use that round but my father in law bought 2 Ruger Americans a couple of years ago. Yes the stock is simple composite with no fancy ergonomics but the block bed that is sits in rivals my high end Remington. I would buy one without hesitation. As long as you are not looking for aftermarket customization on the stock itself you'll have a rifle that will rival some high end purchases. I say go for it, you won't be disappointed especially for the price.

HIJACK- does suppressor also reduce recoil?? Never shot with them but would love to get into it.

Amanda may be the one to ask here but I was also told. Coues you include brow tines. Muley's you do NOT include brown tines. Heaven knows I've been wrong before. I am sure when you call them you can ask and they'll tell you what they're looking for

Time to go freeze it off in Unit 21?
ready2hunt replied to azcoyote's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Congrats! Most hunters will never even see a grey ghost in their life and you got one on the ground! -
If I am able to drag the animal to where I have my processing equipment such as a cooler etc. I ALWAYS clean the meat, de-bone and portion out the meat. I just love arriving home with everything ready for the freezer after a long hunt/drive. If I have help- I gut the animal and hang it for dressing. Much easier to maneuver and cleaner. If I am by myself- gutless method and game bag/pillow case it until I can get somewhere to process it. Takes a more time to get all the meat but no big deal. +1 to keep the antlers with it and the tag until you're home. Don't want the antlers? sell the head or donate to some of the guys on here who can use them for projects (I'll take them for that matter. I got scouts who love making things with them). The only wrong method is the one that is wasteful. Good luck to you and be sure to post up pics if you get one on the ground!

Hard to float a pin if there isn't one. is that like some ancient Chinese archery advice? I usually just drift it by the target and let it fly when it's in the middle, am I doing it wrong? That is exactly what target panic is. Cant hold the pin on the target so you move it across the target trying to punch the trigger when the pin is on the bullseye. For the record, nobody holds dead steady, there is always some bouncing around on the target. As suggested if you focus on the target and just let the pin float you will be surprised how that arrow seems to end up dead center. If you try to hold steady as a rock, you will drive yourself crazy and never get it done anyway. Focus on your release and your follow through, everything else will come together. +1 Its almost just understanding/having the confidence to know when to release before holding out to long and over correcting more as the muscles fatigue. I think the MAJORITY of target panic is just a bad follow through versus an INITIAL bad shot.
