I was told a long time ago that the rut is triggered by length of day as well as temperature. Think I heard that during my original hunter safety course. Anyone else hear that or can substantiate it?

My brother just had a charge show up for a bull tag yesterday evening. He used a chase debit so there is no delay in reporting. We assume he was a "next in line"

I started using lighted knock just this year. I will NEVER go back. They are WELL worth the money to save an arrow!

My brother applied with his chase debit and all activity he gets an immediate alert (I know because I actually set it up for him before the draw in feb.) He must have been one of the "Next in Line" because he had a charge for a Late Bull Tag go on his card yesterday afternoon that was not previously there. Looks like my father and brother will have back to back hunts in the same unit one right after the other- this is going to fun!

IF you are not looking to spend $100-200 on a pack you might want to look into a traditional ALICE pack or modified HELLCAT. Love mine. Holds as much weight as you can. Get a good pair of boots. Start learning all of the water sources in your area and start scouting there. No water = No animals plain and simple so its a great place to start. I wont go on a single hunt without my HAVALON knife for skinning. Its one of the best investments I ever made. +1 to a single reed call call. Lover swhacker broadheads 125gr for elk. Get your bow tuned up now and start practicing. Pack warm/cold/rain gear Your best bet would be to take a weekend every month and just over night in your unit to learn it. You'll be leaps and bounds head of most other hunters. Some of the stuff you need will depend on how you'll be hunting. Are you packing in? Solo or will you have people with you? Terrain & time frame you'll be out?

I'd take 'em if I had the money. Great glass, great price. You may wish to wait until people find out where/if they were drawn. Things always sell better right after results hit and people feel they know what they need. Good luck!

I have never hunted the strip. I love 12AW though. With 12AW as long as you go to scout at least once and have a good layout of the land you are going to see a buck. Whether or not you want to burn your points on "any" Buck is a different story entirely. There is everything up there, good & bad roads, water, firewood etc. bring rain gear, cold weather gear and all your basics. The more hours you spend there scouting prior to the hunt will give you a greater chance of killing a mature buck. It's a great unit and a great place to just tag out if you want but there are some monsters in there. If you are willing to put in the time. Good luck.

congrats! What a great hunt got get drawn for! +1 To the above my 2nd hunt I waited years for and got caught up in the numbers game and walked home humbled and empty handed. To each his own- some don't care to go home with nothing but memories but I don't hunt to go home empty. Either way keep us updated as you scout etc. will be a great hunt for you!

what unit? I am dying to know. If you dont want to share thats fine but those tags are so few and far between that is freaking awesome!!!!

I was told a while back by a game and fish rep that ALL charges and submitted to the bank at the same time. Call your banks and see if there is a pending charge. My card dosent show a hit but i called and there is one pending. I was also told the only hits that come later are ones with Card issues. Other than that it is just how quickly the banks report it

I didn't get a hit either but call my bank and I have a pending charge of from AZ GAME AND FISH! Either myself or my father are going hunting this fall!
