#2 MORE BIG VELVET BULLS Scouting pics #2 2016!!
ready2hunt replied to Lance's topic in Timberland Outfitters Blog
Great pics thanks for sharing. That non typical is awesome! -
Not an app and I know some of you are aware of it but my favorite combo (if I have internet access) is: http://www.mytopo.com/maps/ I use it in tandem with the google earth app. When I am scouting an area (or sitting in camp and planning) I pull up the topo maps and then just take a couple pics on my phone so I have a topo map to work with. no fuss or $$$ plus...once I have the pic I dont need the internet anymore so as long as my battery lasts I have customized topo map for the area I am in.

I like watching to actual events like rugby and shooting. Normally I like the opening ceremonies but this one was terrible with their "we are killing the world" and "go green" message. I also HATE listening to the NBC commentators so this year I have seen very little. Sounds like this is shaping up the be one of the lowest viewed Olympics in years too.

I have an iphone 5 does the adapter hook to the case I already have for do I have to buy a separate case?
-
just make sure you hook up a hose and let the air out of the tank before you run it! Just be gentle with your water connections when disconnecting and reconnecting them so they don't break and make sure you use some plumbers tape to seal them right. Its SUPER easy, if you dont feel confident just look up a "YOUTUBE" video on how to do it. You will literally save yourself $80-$100 in labor. If you get into trouble and no one can help THEN call a service guy. They would have likely had the same trouble and at least you'll learn something. Best thing my father ever taught me was if you HAVE to call a professional then pay them to walk YOU through how to do it instead of letting them do it all so you know how to do it in the future.

Coties will do that.

I agree, looks like runoff. Where are you in 24 that hits 7k? Pinals

Its usually all about the "wind factor" for me. If the wind is in my favor I have been able to get within 20 yards (however I hunt wooded/thick areas that I cannot glass effectively at a distance). I have found that even if I make noise, the deer with rise up from the bed but will generally wait (until they are sure which direction to run) before they make a break for it. If the wind is not in my favor though....I will never had a chance to see them.

if you know it so well why don't you put in for that unit? Jk sorry I had too -
Some of my favorite hunting memories growing up includes over the counter archery hunts in kiabab, seeing the oak/aspen leaves turn and going turkey hunting just to be in the middle of the rut. Growing up in my family we NEVER used artificial bugles. Not that it was taboo or we though we were "cool" but from a young age everyone in my family would just use are mouths to do a full elk call bugle & bark. Obviously it doesn't sound like much unless a you get a little older but it was always so fun to just be out there and bugle whenever we wanted or needed (until our voices go horsed). Of course it ways became a competition as well to see who could call the most in or who could do it better. I always have a cow call with me though. IMO my father does the best, I remember we "called" in a fellow hunter one time, he was a nice guy but became annoyed with my father when he asked what "brand bugle" he was using and my dad told him he was just using his voice. Even after demonstrating the guy seem a little frustrated- still makes be chuckle to this day. We always seem to get great results too, perhaps our inferior bugles makes a bull think we are an easy challenge but I have more memories than I can count of bulls raking and head butting trees in front of us and kicking up mud/dirt all over the place. (as a young man I have to admit I was pretty intimidated by that but never in harms way). Got an old picture of a whole heard around us about 20 yards I'll have to find and post up. This past weekend I was up on the rim and ran into a spike with a couple cows and all my kids started sounding off trying to call in the elk- obviously the elk ran off as soon as they heard us. They were cracking me up. Point for sharing this is- are there other members on here that do this? I know there are bugling competitions that actually include a no-call calling contest but just curious if any of you do this as well?

+1 I don't have a pair to sell but glad to your boy working so hard. He will always appreciate/care for those binos. -
Good for you! wish I was there too. Not with you of course haha
-
seriously... that is just weird. The only thing I can imagine is someone was trying to clear a trail so they would not slip on loose rocks.

Nothing is better than dropping a bear. Can't wait
-
dang that is a big wide bull. its always fun to see big bulls and then see a bull that puts them all to shame
-
What did you end up putting in for?
-
Bows have some of the highest depreciation rates. Just keep your eye on eBay and the classifieds and what is Top-of-the-line today will drop in price quite a bit. At least you'll save some money and could get a full set up for what the price of a bare bow is today.
