Opening day archery Az Strip buck!

Anyone else thinking "with such a trophy on the ground- the camera guy couldn't get his finger out of the way?" I have several pictures where my dad was convinced the camera was messed up until he moved his fat finger haha -

Great job! Nothing like having a buck on the ground. thanks for sharing.

I refuse to go up for labor day anymore. Too much traffic and weekenders on the roads. The drive back is always terrible.

That is the definition of a beautiful whitetail. Hopefully you tag it but another year and it looks like both sides will 5 tines. Thanks for sharing.

If and when do you lower your standards?
ready2hunt replied to no worries's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I agree with mattys281- just getting one takes the edge off. I wont ever push my kids to wait for a "big one." Having said that, for me, the only times I will hold out for a large rack is if I have been scouting and trailing a large animal and know I have a chance or if I am hunting in Kiabab. If I hear one more person say "you cant eat antlers" I will shoot myself. First of all, I hate that "holier than thou" crap from people I don't know and 2nd, it is cheaper for me to buy beef and chicken on sale than it is to buy a license, tag and trip expenses for a deer or elk so dont tell me its "all about the meat." Its "all about the experience" and I want my kids to experience success as quickly as possible. -
+1 Walmart If you are just getting into hunting then don't spend big $$$ until you know what you want. Some long sleeves and camo Jean pants wil last you years. Have fun! Also check out good will. Got me some top $ camo from there before. Just gotta look for it

Anyone tried those "vibrant toe shoes." (The ones that have the individual toes)? I have heard of a couple people wearing socks like that which have "grip" on the bottom that are made for older people so they don't slip on the floor. Seem like they would work.

"How did I live without it?" Hunting Gear
ready2hunt replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
MULE TAPE (if you don't have any while hunting you might not be human) Good Skinning Knife (havalon for me) Lighter Water My Gun or Bow Picture of my Family Knowing where the closest main highway is. Never truly lost if I know which direction it is. No fuss no frills just the basics. I take A LOT more with me but these are the MUST HAVES for me. -
I like the one with antlers. They are all shooters to me

Spot and stalk on all of them.

Thanks everyone. Still living the after hunt high.

I see your point but I don't think they are in camo to blend in with the truck. Why not be prepared for when you get out?

2rd pic was taken at less than 10 yards in an Aspen thicket. Zoom in and in the center of the pic you can see 2 ears as the buck is bedded. It took some skill but my bro dropped it with a spine tap through the neck. I was pretty proud of the guy.

To all the archery "hunters" in 24A (Pinal Mt Area)
ready2hunt replied to whiteeye's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
why get so worked up over someone staying close to the road and not getting up early? isn't that exactly what YOU want? To have other hunters out of your area and away from you? -
I usually have my kids and wife in tow. I highly recommend flagstaff. Cheap hotel rooms and great food. You'll see cows all over the northern part of the unit that time of year and it's a just an extra 25-30 min drive after the last shooting light. Happy jack lodge is good for about $125 a night with a 2 night minimum

Ever seen "Fire in the sky" ? That

I have no idea what it is. I text it to a buddy of mine at ASU and he said its bone but he cannot determine what type without physical analysis.

Found this one scoutin with the kids. Always fun to find things with them in tow.

+1 Never show up. Technically yes they can come after you but will have to serve you. I don't mind my civil duty either but I would skip it as well. Don't fret over it- it's really not a big deal.
