AverageJoe replied to Broken Wheels's topic in Classified Ads
Post up a pic, that will help a lot -
I am not impressed with Vortex rings one bit. Cheaply made. I have leupold mark 4 rings and bases and that is what I will use from now on.

.17HMR info requested
AverageJoe replied to deercrazy's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I love mine. I dont shoot past 100 yds with it. I have shot coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, and a turkey when it was legal. The coyote did the spin for about 10 yds and was toast. No pelt damage! It is devastating on small game. I would rather have my .17 over my ruger 10-22 any day. -

Just one??? I have lost hundreds over the years! Lol

I think a lot of people really dont know what it takes for an elk to actually be 400". I have seen a guess the score contest on a 360 bull and many guesses were 380-400. But like you said mostly by new hunters. That is the problem with the trophy hunting world we live in. Everyone wants their bull to be 400 or somehow its not a good bull?? Lol! So new hunters come in and the first big bull they see they say well that's gotta be a 400" bull! When in reality its around 350. Same goes with deer too but i see it mostly on elk where there is more room for error. No big deal though, live and learn.

First or Second Focal Plane Scope?
AverageJoe replied to Big Browns's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
The point of impact stays the same at any setting on either scope if you just use the crosshairs. If you use mil dots to range your target a ffp keeps the distance between mil dots the same at any power setting where second plane scopes do not. I only like second plane scopes cause i dont like a big ol reticle in my view when magnified but some do. I dont use my scope to range anything. I have a good rangefinder for that and i prefer regular plex style crosshairs. -
Also do you know how much elevation it has in it?

Archery headquarters has them for the best price around. I just bought the ascent and love it! I bought the vertical single pin. -
I have been thinking about a post from last month that Coach had posted and it received many good replies and I think it helped us all in our struggle for faith in the modern age. In my daily routine I do not talk to many Christians and very few hunters. Sometimes I feel like I am alone in this world but the thread Coach posted helped me realize I am not alone and in fact there are plenty of men and women out there who are just like me. I think it is vital for Godly men and women to have fellowship with one another and encourage one another in life. I would like to start up an organization where hunters can get together once a month, maybe more, maybe less, and just talk about God, their faith issues, life struggles, etc...and also talk about hunting and all the fun stuff that comes with hunting. It would be a non-denominational, no perfect people type organization. Coues Whitetail is a great way for us to talk about it online but it would be nice to be able to meet face to face and know we are not alone out there. I also would like for the organization to be able to help out in other areas regarding wildlife/hunting in regards to volunteering for different events, etc. Maybe even have a website to post product reviews, videos of different hunts, etc... I know people are spread out all over this state so maybe there could be satellite groups throughout the state and those groups could all get together once or twice a year for a camping trip, conference, sportsman exhibit etc. I am just throwing the idea out there right now to see how many would be interested in something like this. If you would be interested in something like this please let me know. If you have any other ideas to go along with this, feel free to share as well. If there is already a well known group like this please let me know as well. I do not know of any so i thought it would be a good idea. Jason

Exactly what i was thinking. I am kind of burned out on typical churches so i have just not gone in a few years. I know i need to be around other godly men for my walk with God to be healthy so that is why i want to start this up. Thank you all for the responses. I will look into further now and decide what to do. Maybe those of us interested can all meet in the phoenix area in a month or so and go over what is important in a group like this. I will post more as i come up with more. Jason

Pretty sure you have until march 15th to put in

The more i think about it, Once the libtards ruin eveything here they are just going to spread their disease to other countries and eventually the whole world. There is no hiding from it. You go to costa rica what is stopping the libs from going there after you do and ruining it too? Liberals will go where the money is cause they cant make it on their own. If all the good hard working folks in the US go to another country, the liberal leaches will soon follow. I dont see anyway of escaping it other than an all out war or secession.

Fyi minox 15x58 are great but they dont make them anymore. The new minox 15x56 are not near as good as the 15x58's. I read the 15x58's were made by leica and that is why they were so good. The new ones no longer have any connections with leica and it shows.

We should all move together so we have a bit of security. I would be up for a move to costa rica or belize. Or australia.

+1 Go with a 15x56 in the 15 power range or step down to 10x42 or 10x50 in the lower power range. You will not be happy with 12x45 or 15x45. Doesnt matter the quality of glass, if the objective is too small you wont get in enough light and the field of view will be too small.

There is a 92 4x4 extended cab with v6 for sale right now on corner of val vista and ray

Good deal right there. Best 15's for the money. Just a tad below swaros in clarity and a third of the price. I liked them better than kaibabs but that was just me and my eyes.

We caped my wife's first ever javelina this weekend, then gutless method the rest and hauled both skulls and meat back to the truck for a 2 mile pack out. When i got home i marinated the backstraps and we had a great dinner the next night. I know a lot of people dont like the taste but these backstraps were honestly as good as any game meat i have had. All i did was season them overnight with my wife's homemade seasoning and cook them in the pan with just a small amount of oil. The rest of the meat filled up two of the large ziploc bags and is being made into jalepeno cheddar sausage. Yummm

AverageJoe replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I sent mccain a letter about stoppig the wolves and i received a lengthy response with his support of hunters and against wolves. I sent him a long letter in regards to politicians overstepping their boundaries and ruining the constitution and received nothing. Sent him one more, received no response. Awesome...not!! -
put it up for sale on Archerytalk.com and you will sell it faster and for a better price. Cost about 35$ to ship to most places.
