Swhackers for bull elk? Updated testing..
AverageJoe replied to TOBY's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I shot a bull with a fixed 3 blade and it didnt bleed on drop of blood. Hit him good and he died within 200 yds but still didnt bleed one drop. Dont hit them just right and it doesnt matter whst broadhead you use, they wont bleed. -
Swhackers for bull elk? Updated testing..
AverageJoe replied to TOBY's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Shot a bull elk with one. Wasnt the best shot but blood trail was massive and the bull went about 200 yds and laid down. I bumped him an hour and half later. He ran about 500 yds after i bumped him and he died on the run from blood loss. Broadhead did its job and left me any easy trail to follow. Found the arrow and the broadhead was in good shape with no bent or broken blades. I will definitely use again on any hunt. -
last year on the archery deer hunt (August) after trying to stalk a big coues deer, I walked down the road back to camp and right off the road I missed a nice muley shed with a triple eyeguard and Average Joe found later driving down the road! it was a nice heavy shed. After being defeated by the mighty coues I don't know how I even found my way back to camp, all I could see was visions of that huge buck that eluded me. LOL! definitely can't find em sittin on the couch! James here is the shed JLW missed Here is the same shed next to a dead head that was sitting not more than 100 yards from someone's trail cam and had obviously been there for quite some time. This coues shed was only about 1/4 mile from that muley shed

Tea Party vs. IRS
AverageJoe replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
How about all Conservatives dont pay taxes until this mess gets sorted out. -
I have been bow hunting for almost 20 years (on and off) and still dont have a deer kill under my belt. It takes patience. Lol. Shot a turkey and two elk with my bow, but no deer. Seen many deer, had plenty of chances, only shot once in my life and i missed. My point is archery hunting is tough and i too would be happy shooting a muley or a coues. Dont get discouraged, this is not michigan or tennessee where they walk right under you all day and you have two deer down by sunup.

Practice practice practice. Be comfortable with your shooting as to leave no doubt in your mind when the shot presents itself. Do not "fling" arrows in a long shot attempt if the deer is outside your comfort zone. Look for sign of deer in an area. If the sign is there, they are there. It will be hot in august in those units. Bring plenty of water and some form of bug spray or blind (or both) if you plan on sitting near water. I cant bring myself to do it due to the mosquitos. I will spot and stalk or still hunt just to avoid so many bugs. The deer are moving very early in the morning. About 30 minutes after sunup it seems they are heading for beds. Then they come back for water during mid day and then come out again right at dark. Plenty of deer in both those units. Do plenty of scouting and just look for good sign. If you sit water near a road be ready for lots of human traffic coming to check on the water hole. It can be frustrating.

Why can't all interviews be this entertaining?
AverageJoe replied to prowlerMan's topic in The Campfire
Lol. Perfectly hilarious and a fresh of breath air from the normal news bs. Love how the police siren made him stop and look. -
Well i am not beligerant as Sir Royal pointed out , just stating that a private store has the right to set whatever policy they like. I would hate to be spanish right now and have to deal with everything going on. On the other hand i feel things such as ammo (and other things) should be kept out of the hands of illegals. How would you go about accomplishing this other than asking every person to show id to buy ammo. Again it is unfortunate for a legal citizen of spanish decent to have to show their id more than a white person, but in southern az the main problem with immigration is illegal spanish immigrants. There really is no way to solve the problem without hurting someones feelings.
-
Ummm, because it isn't a requirement to purchase ammo. But it is a private store and they can set whatever policy they want and also refuse service to anyone they want. You dont like it, dont shop there.

So whats wrong with that? If they asked me i would say yes and show them my driver license.

Nice turkey. I bet that horseshoe was from a burro back in the old days. Bunch of miners used them for packing supplies in. A lot of miners turned them loose when the mine closed and why we now have wild burros in certain areas of the state.

Looking to buy a Diesel and would like your opinion
AverageJoe replied to 2 Full Curls's topic in The Campfire
Yes all the new trucks are pretty equal performance wise. Still not crazy about the dodge interiors, unless its the fully upgraded interior. Love the interior on the gmc the best, the the outside look of the ford the best. Tranny would still go to gmc with ford a close second with the new torqueshift. Dodge tranny even on the new ones is still their weakpoint. -

AverageJoe replied to ylclaret's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer

I agree with anyone regarding 2003-2010 fords but the newer ones are simply awesome. Ford left their contract with inernational and then navistar and went with an in house motor for the 6.7. If you havent driven or experienced the ford 6.7 first hand dont bash based on the older years fords. Also dont delete any emissions crap if you live in maricopa county. Not worth the headache.
