I like the look of the Sako and the action on the Sako's are much better/smoother than remington.

I scout for sign before i ever bother glassing. If i am seeing a lot of sign, tracks and poop, i will come back another time and glass. I will glass a few hours in the morning before moving to another area. You just never know when something might pop up.

Just get a bell&carlson on stockys for $249

Dont spend the money on Christiansen or legendary etc as they wont shoot any better than a $500 tikka. If you are determined to spend the money I would rather buy a $450 remington and have a custom barrel and stock of your choice put on and still be in for same price as one of the afformentioned guns.

Kudos to you for actually trying and proving it. Very good info and thank you

Get the biggest caliber you will be comfortable shooting. One rifle to do it all would be 300 win mag or 7mm mag as mentioned above.

Well a candle burns at around 2000 deg so why couldnt it be used?

What brand and bullet weight for 7-08? -
You dont count the eye guards on either species out west when referring to it as a 3 point or 4 point. Yes they are included in score sheet on a coues, but if you tell a westerner you shot a 4 point coues they are gonna look at you like you are a retard when you show them pics of a 3 point with eye guards. I am an Az native, please quit trying to change it and bring eastern practices to the west. If you shoot a 3 point coues with eye guards, report it to game and fish as a 3 point since that what it is

Happening in Oregon but Issue is Alive and Well Here in S. AZ
AverageJoe replied to Jawa512's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
They have been getting some support on different hunting/fishing venues but anything I have see on public news postings every commenter is dead set against them and there have been everything from drone strikes to maximum force suggested to be used against them and I have heard they have now brought children into the building too. I can see it turning into another Waco. So how do you suppose the public go about holding the federal government accountable for a complete and blatant violation of the constitution? Go through the courts? LOL. When people stand up and do something rather than nothing all of a sudden they are nutjobs and in the wrong? What they are doing should be taking place anywhere and everywhere the feds overstep their power. -

The Oregon deal has nothing to do with the original crime. The FACT is the government is sending them to prison AGAIN for a crime they already served a sentence for. Doesnt anyone understand how against the constitution that is??? You cannot be tried and sentenced twice for the same crime. That is the reason for the standoff. Just too bad the Hammonds are gonna bend over and take it rather than stand up for what is right. -
Also if you increase spine but add a heavier broadhead, you will be close to where you were with a .340 spine and 100 gn broadhead. I think your spine is fine. I have found spine to be much smaller impact on arrow flight than people think, unless you are severely underspined but at that point you are in a danger zone. .340 spine mayhems with 100 gn broadheads shooting 280 fps is just fine.

This can be common if shooting helical vanes. I shoot straight vanes for a few different reasons. It can be hard to tell without paper tuning if your arrow is actually corkscrewing or if it is an optical illusion brought about be various shadows and helical vanes. When i shot helical vanes i always thought my arrow was corkscrewing. I went through countless hours trying to remedy it. The end result was i went to straight vanes instead of helical and realized my arrow was perfectly straight the whole time and my mind was playing tricks on me. If your arrow is actually corkscrewing, shoot bare shafts through paper and look for a left or right tear and go from there. If no tear is seen shoot a vaned arrow and check again. If all looks well on paper most likely you are experiencing an optical illusion.

Your name has been removed Nick. Thank you for your input and for siding with sportsman. -
Sorry but i have to disagree in a big way, unless you like raising spoiled brats. While that might work for the short term, the point of raising kids is to get them ready for the long term and to be good adults. By making it all about them you are only adding to the self entitlement attitude and "all about me" attitude kids are having these days. If they are gonna like hunting, its because its in their blood, not because it was made fun or not. Lets face it when they become adults and hunt on their own, we all know sometimes "fun" is the last thing it is. if they are used to it being roses and purple daisies, when it becomes thorns and bruises, they will lose interest. Just force them to come with you, give them no choice in the matter, and it will become a way of life and they will either stick to it or not, but either way they will be better adults. That worked for my generation and many generations before, and there are more hunters now then ever. No one made it "fun" for me. The fun came when i finally got an animal. It made all the hard work worthwhile and i got the feeling of putting in hard work if you want a good reward. And hard work is definitely something this world needs more of.

New to duck hunting; trying out some tank hopping
AverageJoe replied to Rando's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
You can follow the Verde River from Camp Verde all the way to Mesa and be into ducks the entire way. Just stay away from houses, reservations, and towns. Also check out areas near Roosevelt Lake. That is one of my favorite places. -
New to duck hunting; trying out some tank hopping
AverageJoe replied to Rando's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
If you are in Scottsdale, just hop between Horseshoe and Bartlett reservoirs, also downstream of Bartlett dam all the way to town. Lots of duck spots in there. Look all around Wickenburg and you will find tons of tanks and most hold ducks and some geese, Unit 21 and 22 would be a bit better than 24b. -
Dang i like that 7rum!

For those who dont know, Here is a quick recap of some of the aholes involved who wanted to sell your tags to the highest bidder. C&P From http://onyourownadventures.com/hunt...ad.php?t=249887 : Latest message from AZSFWC (AZSFW is one in the same): Some of our members recently expressed concern with some proposed legislation, HB 2072. However, AZSFWC did not sponsor HB 2072, nor introduce HB 2072. We did hear an overview of the bill at our December Board meeting, and the Board voted to support the concept. We viewed the benefits as presented for sportsmen and women, youth, access and wildlife, not to mention Arizona's economy, as very positive. http://campaign.r20.constantcontact....8nQLV90A%3D%3D Technically he is right. They did not sponsor or introduce HB2072 because none of them are legislators! They did, however, undoubtedly draft the bill in question, and paid Rep. Weiers $6187 during their December 16th meeting to sponsor/introduce it for them. They are not fooling anyone. Sheep hunt success in Northwest Arizona!

Look up AZSFW HB2072 and look who the politician was who originated the bill. Cant believe how many people dont know about this it was huge a few years ago. Basically Weirs along with several other guides and business men tried to pass a law that would sell 350 of our best big game tags to the highest bidder. -

At least those guides you speak of are learning there is no more glory in their BS. Guys arent impressed anymore when they post all their stories and pictures with 10 guys behind the animal. The rich guys will continue to hire them...good for them. Just hope the trend dies off and hunting in general can return to the traditional family experience it once was and still is for many. -
Yes you still have a 50% chance on your second choice. There is nothing subtracted. When they move on to look at your second choice its as if the first choice never existed.

7MM Rem Mag, Powder & Die
AverageJoe replied to ctracingraptor's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Sendero has 26" barrel. R22 works great and is easily found. Also ramshot magnum, 4831, 4350 are worth a shot for powders that are more readily available. Spottsmans carries most of those one a daily basis
