Quail hunting brought an unexpected Sight.
dse replied to 6ANut's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
There's been some others but they don't seem to live very long. I think this is the only one that made it. Not sure where but I know I have a couple pics of this one at about a month old. -
My choice would be a leupold vxiii in 4.5-14x40 or a ziess conquest 4.5-14x44. Spend a little extra and get one that will never let ya down.

Im pretty sure that's one I see pretty commonly. If its the same one saw her as a fawn four years ago. -
I usually fill my apps out in the g&f parking lot on the last day.

I don't know any lawyers, but man I'm sorry to hear that! Hope you can get it taken care of.

Quit and go hunting for 3 or 4 months

100 grn swift scirocco. High bc, 85% to 90% weight ret., and 2.5x exp.

Your not the only one. I've never been able to get a pair of vortex to focus. I end up with a headache after glassing for a half hour or so.

I like the 40 gr v-max and RL-15. But the v-max or nbt tend to be messy when they hit shoulder blades.

I let my 375 get me once but never bad enough to draw blood.

If the pressure point has been removed from the stock, try putting it back. Just had the same issue with a hogue stock. Without the pressure point it shot 8" groups. Put the pressure point back in and it shot 1/2" groups.

Can you actually still hunt unit 32? And a AZGFD mini-rant.

Ok now tell us how if you were to spend the kind of money it takes to buy a ranch such as these, how you would turn down opportunities to make a profit so you could allow the public to access your land and trash it for free. Then explain what is wrong with a guide paying for access to private land. -
If your going to stay under 300yds it really doesn't matter. If your set on using 130s, don't let anyone talk you out of the barnes x.

Factory ammo repeatability question
dse replied to Couestracker's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I would try 130s. I load 130 gr swift scirocco and barnes ttsx for several rifles and all shoot under moa. -
If both guns are of like quality, I would trade 300wm for a 270wsm any day of the week. I've had a couple rifles in both. I've never gotten rid of a gun quicker than I did the 300wm's, and the 270wsm is easily my favorite deer round. Hard hitting, flat shooting and mild recoil.
-
I use rl-22 for 270wsm with 130 swift bullets. Getting sub moa groups out of all 3 rifles we load for.

Reloading package, how much?
dse replied to Arrowsniper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Forget 12ga, just not worth the time for what you get. Get a rcbs rockchuckar kit to load 270 and get the hang of reloading. Then upgrade to the Rl 550b dillon for the 9. The progressives have alot going on at once and will be a lot easier to get the hang of after some practice on a single stage. -
Weatherby 257 magnum 80 grain Barnes TTSX for coues?
dse replied to dpr64's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Midway has weatherby factory ammo with 100 gr norma bullets on clearance for $32 a box. Its like $10 cheaper than they want for just brass. -
Weatherby 257 magnum 80 grain Barnes TTSX for coues?
dse replied to dpr64's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Corbon loads the 100gr ttsx. But not very speedy, and really spendy. -
Need opinions on a new sidearm
dse replied to naturegirl's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Unless your a really good pistol shot I would say governor, or judge loaded with #4s and pdx1 every other round. Apply that to a bear or booger mans face and they aren't going to pick on ya anymore. -
I would only go if I was alone, or with someone.

Wolf in the Southwest
dse replied to Jimmer Negamanee's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
There is a reason that the wolf has disappeared across most of the country, and at the same time the coyote, lion, and bear have thrived. The wolf is an out of date, inefficient, unadaptible predator. The wolf was simply replaced by better predators. -
I always wondered how many people knew about them. I've got a quite few on trail cam and glassed up a few more, but have always been chasing elk when I saw them.
