I use the Manfrotto 190x with a Manfrotto fluid pan head and I'm really happy. It's a little on the heavy side but IMO I really don't care for a very light tripod with the 15x glass.

I'll second what Lance had to say on PCR. I've only had one built there but a second is in the works.

I saw that as well. I found the same list for 2015 and Defiance was listed in the top spot.

Well I think I'm getting close, but I've thought that a couple dozen times in the last few days. All I've done for the last two days is read about different components. I'm down to the Bighorn, and the Defiance as far as actions. Speedygoss your opinion on this matter is pretty popular. I found what you said in your first post a half dozen places around the web,(almost word for word). I like the look of the Defiance a little better but will likely come down to which one is more available. I thought I was pretty set on the Swaroviski Z6, but then I found the Kahles K1050. I'm pretty sure I need one! I've tried to talk myself into a mess of other cartridges from PPC's, to BR's, 6 Dasher, 6x47 Lapua, 6XC, 220 Russian, and 204 Ruger but just keep coming back to the Triple Deuce. Running some numbers through a recoil calculator I get 1.48 ft lbs from the 222 with the load I plan on running. That's about 20% less than the 22 PPC, and around 75% less than the 6mm's. Lapua offers factory brass for the 222 which is pretty appealing considering the amount of ammo I plan to go through. The 222 runs at lower pressure and uses less powder. I have to think that would mean more time shooting and less time waiting for the barrel to cool. I'm also thinking 222 should feed nicely from 223 magazines. The builder seems pretty set on the Krieger 8 twist, and I think it should get a 11° target crown. I'm also thinking of having an extra barrel chambered at the same time. I'm leaning real hard toward the Manners MCS-T4A. I'm slightly disappointed in the McMillan on my last build. Got it in March and just noticed a crack on top of the butt and a rather large divot in the cheek piece. Still a little confused on the trigger. Not so much which one, but what to set it at. Do I set it like a bench rest trigger, or around 2 1/2 lbs like all my other rifles? As for the know how to put it all together, it will be up to Phoenix Custom Rifles.

What is it about the Bighorn, that you like over the Defiance?

Don't really need it to be deer rifle already have 22-250 Ai,243wssm,25-06,257wby,6.5x55 Swed,6.5-300wby,a couple 270wsm's,30-06Ai,and a 300rum for backup deer rifles. When I go for some prairie dog action 600 rnd days aren't uncommon so looking for another rifle that's easy on powder, barrel, ears, shoulder, and just plain fun to shoot. Some times I go by myself so being able to call my own shots would be a plus. obbessssed Much???? I like it!!!!! Please keep us up to date with this build. Sounds awesome Well it's worse than that! I left out the varmint rifles, lever guns, shotguns, big bores, rimfires, muzzleloaders, handguns, and pneumatics.

Eargesplitten Loudenboomer doesn't sound very low muzzle blast Lance lol! I considered the 22 dasher, 220 Swift Ackley, and the 22-6mm Ackley when I built the 22-250 Ackley. The 22-250Ai is a touch over 12 lbs and shooting low .2's with an 80 gr Berger Vld @ 3420 fps. Yes it's pretty recoil friendly but it's still pretty tough to watch the bullet strike in the scope. My fire forming load is a 53gr V-Max @3500 fps (22 PPC velocity). This load is crazy fun! Smacked a Coyote at 350 yds a couple weeks ago, and man I love the sound the V-Max makes when thumping song dogs. My first varmint rifle was a Savage 340B in 222 rem. Bought it at a yard sale in pieces for 100 bucks. The original stock was missing, but had a blank wood stock that someone had begun to inlet. It was missing a spring for the ejector & had no magazine. Stopped by my gunsmith friends house on the way home and he made the spring for the ejector and ordered a five Rd magazine. I went home and took my dremel and some sandpaper and finished the inlet. Finished I had under $200 into it with a cheap tasco 6-24x50 scope. Loaded up some 50 gr Moly V-Max and away I went. To this day the best 100 yd 3 shot group I have ever fired came from this setup, measured around .02". Now it's sitting at around 15000 Rds that I've put through it, god only knows how many before I had it. The extractor won't pull the cases any more, the safety doesn't click anymore when pushed to fire, and everything on it is loose. It still shoots better than my rem 700 223 that has less than 200 Rds through it. The 222 rem set most of the bench rest records in the 50's & 60's. A few still stand I believe but most have since been beat by the PPC & BR lines. An added bonus to the 222 is a pound of powder will load around 350 cases.

Any luck on finding someone to go retrieve it? -
Appreciate the offer Vowell but already have a couple rem 700 short actions laying around. Thanks for the info Desert Bull I'll look into those actions. 700 yd pd action is a hoot when you get into a good town.

Light recoil and muzzle blast, I want to be able to call my own hits in the scope, and I don't care for brakes.

People that like donating to the mechanic, or just like to brag about how their truck needs to be completely disassembled to fix anything, or maybe cowboys who still think you just shoot them when something goes wrong.

Read an article yesterday that said 2020 for the Bronco

Where's it at on fs21 I don't have a SxS but had my truck through that road all the way to half way house last week -
It could be moderate in one 300 mag and primer piercing pressure in the next. Most large capacity cases using slow powder can't be down loaded very far as it can cause irregular pressure and hang fires so the difference from minimum to moderate to max pressure can be a pretty small percentage.

It was a hot topic last year during hunter safety. The warden who came in said a small sidearm is acceptable and even warned that different wardens will give you a hard time. He said he would not say anything as long as the barrel length was 6 inches or less. But if you had a contender or something similar he would write a citation. Game and fish cannot stop us fro protecting ourselves. He went as far as to tell us shotguns for dove have to be locked up while bowhunting.I wish they had a better definition in the regs Sounds like a warden taking the law into his own hands. I'd like to see him in a court room defending those citations. The don't have to most people don't fight them

Just pulled in the driveway coming home from 12a. Saw well over 1000 deer in 4 days. Been just barely freezing at night but the wind has been stiff.

Finally got this thing shooting like it should! Messed with several powders and a few bullets in the last couple weeks. Originally wanted to shoot the 75gr A-max but found that bad things happen to accuracy at the speed this cartridge will push it (at least in a 1 in 7 twist). Switched to the 80gr Berger vld and 41gr of Rl-22. I'm getting 3420 fps with an Es of 9 100 yd group measured .235" Backed up to 700yds, my drop was 1/2 moa low but the group was right at 2" The coyotes are in big trouble!

Building a 22-250 AI on a savage model 11. I'm looking for a decent stock to replace the plastic junk that came on it. Haven't been able to find a stock made for the 11 with bottom bolt release, but found one that fits a model 10 SA with bottom bolt release. Wondering if there is any reason this stock wouldn't work.

I have the vx-6 in 3-18x44 on my 270 Wsm. For the money they are a decent scope. The glass could be a little better, but it's as good or better than anything I've seen in the same price range. Never had any issues with tracking. Now I'm kind of a Leupold fan, but if this is the build of your dreams why not put the scope of your dreams on it. I got my 300 Rum from PCR in March and I went with the Nightforce 5-25x56 F1 ATACR. It's an ok scope but its not everything I had hoped for. If I had it to do again the S&B, Kahles K624, or the Swaroviski X5 is where I would be looking.

Midway Usa has 110 Accubond in stock Midsouth shooter supply has the 115 nbt in stock

The only time I've had a scope break it was pretty obvious, the cross hairs would tilt a couple degrees every shot. I would give it a good cleaning and check the torque on rings & mounts as well as the bedding screws. I would also check the crown, I have had one rifle with a small chip in the left side of the crown, every group I fired would be one in the bull and every shot after would be a 1/2" further right.
