Well, I'd do it again but the ground is all wet (finally) from last nights rain. I think wet ground causes the reads not to be so reliable. Thank you Guys for the kind words and I am deeply apologetic for using the wrong blood. EBB

Check out this one that was on the same page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcMlqBJTRZU...feature=related EBB -
Wow! I saw the title and thought that G&F had given us a new opportunity. I was assuming you'd have to use blunts though. Now after reading it, all I can say is HAVE FUN, and welcome! EBB

I'd use the color film. With Photoshop you could always memorialize the moment in sepia, B&W, or any number of really cool filters. EBB

camping in northern AZ UNIT 8 williams area
EBB replied to vegasjeep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
There's elk wandering around all over that unit. I'd camp around White Horse Lake or Dogtown. Drive it early and late and you'll get a pretty good feel. Course it'll be different when the season rolls around. EBB -
Dug one up with a backhoe once. Took awhile to identify it because the internet was just a dream then. This was in Northwest Phoenix. Really cool little snakes. EBB

That's some awesome video. I'm really surprised that the background music didn't scare them off. EBB

Is a guided hunt as satisfying as do-it yourself?
EBB replied to lousyhunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Years ago I was drawn for Antelope here in Az. I was very busy at work and had dreams of taking a B&C buck. I knew with September trade shows and getting my prodict ready in August I wouldn't have the time to get out and scout. I hired a guide in early August and he did the hard work for me. There was another issue I had and that was that I can't judge antelope for crap. I met him the day before season opened and he shared what he and his friends had found. We looked at quite a few bucks that he had found and none of them were what I wanted. He showed me 3 times as many animals as I could have possibly found on my own. On the 4th day after not seeing any "new" bucks show up he took me somewhere I would never have gone and I harvested a respectable (but not B&C) buck. It wasn't the best animal we had seen but it was my choice to not take any of the others. For my circumstances it was well worth the money for the experience. We even watched a couple of mulies for about an hour that had 48 points between the 2 of them. I learned a lot more from this hunt than most any I've been on. A couple years later this same guide came over to the unit when I had an elk tag and "helped me". That bull is on the wall in my game room "350". I have been to Mexico twice and the Cowboy Guides are more than helpful at getting you to a location where you have the best chances at finding quality animals. As long as you're hunting open land without a high fence it's still hunting as far as I'm concerned. EBB -
So ethically who gets to hunt over it? You or the guy who put his stand up first? EBB

It's Mickey Newbury for me. "Between those Hank Williams pain songs and Newbury train songs and Blue Eyes Crying in The Rain" They couldn't say pain songs twice or it wouldn't have worked. EBB

MARICOPA AND PIMA COUNTY SHUT OFF??? ALL HUNTERS MUST READ!!!
EBB replied to CanyonCountry's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You are right, this is all part of the PM-10 dust control. The EPA gave dust control responsibility to the State who defined Area A, and Area B. Area A is most of Maricopa County where Area B is around Tucson. Maricopa County was supposed to come up with provisions to control dust in Area A and wasted most of the allotted time so the State took back control. The State Legislature then passed a Statute defining what the Towns, Cities, and County needed to do to become compliant. These ordinances had to be passed by the end of March this year. The only map I have seen of Area A is on an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of paper. Not near enough detail to see where the edges are, and I haven't seen a definition of boundaries. It is most of Maricopa County but, I don't think all. This is what that bogus www.Runningoutofair.com program is about. In Cave Creek, I voted against "both reads" of the State mandated ordinance (the only Council Member to do so). The only areas that have violated the EPA dust levels are along I 10 and I 17. This is because the traffic keeps it stirred up. There aren't even monitors to prove that most of Area A has a problem. It's just another right and convenience taken by the Feds. EBB -
I have a friend who lives out in the middle of nowhere and has a dog get snakebit at least once a year. He goes with benadryl every 4 hours for a couple of days and antibiotics. He hasn't lost one yet. EBB
